Saturday/Sunday recap. 28 Ø
Monday. I am certainly glad that I did not rush out and get the Nats ball cap. Astros won game #5 last night, take series lead 3-2 and head back to Houston today for game #6 tomorrow.
Game 4 just eventful as well. Astros grab early lead, didn’t look back then break it open ending in a route or near route squared the series at two (2-2) games apiece with game 5 shuffled Sunday for ratings and most important NOT to compete (IOW ‘conflict’) with football for the all-important advertising revenue.
Also, the Stars were shutout by visiting Penguins as figured in another luster-lacking team performance in front of the home fans.
I got the annual flu shot and pneumonia so immunization panel is now up-to-date. Next up in a week or two is the ‘shingarex’. I know exactly where I am going to have it done. The new K-Roget pharmacia on Lake Forest at 380 has a cute tech with a nice smile, smart and engaging personality.
But that’s not the end of the draw.
The pharmacist is a knockout. Let’s be honest and face facts. Getting a shot is never a ‘fun thing’ however the sting is softened considerably by a sweet middle-aged lady. Easy to talk with and another killer smile.
When I made inquiry at local K-roget, the pharm-tech was wearing what I would call a tablecloth. I have to draw the line somewhere on my own personal safety as it would be far too easy to erase an older white boy with an ‘oops, so sorry. Wrong vial’. So I avoided THAT death trap.
Chilly this morning 18 upstairs and 19 on the lower deck.
Yesterday afternoon I had planned on starting a small fire in the fireplace to burn some of the small scrap pieces of wood that have accumulated over the past year in the garage. It would serve to not only provide some small marginal heat in a psychological way but also tidy up the garage and make it easier (somewhat) to clean for the upcoming studio tour.
Watering the indoor plants and outdoor gardening tasks need to be checked off today and should it warm up by early afternoon for a bike ride which would be really nice. I am thinking two (2) hours and seeing how far I can go as a parametric training challenge. (Ed note: Did that. 44km so a pretty good average time/hr. Considering. NOT race pace for sure. Windy, traffic and safety slows ti stops.)
S1 gifted me a ‘door gym’ a few years ago that I have successfully incorporated into my golf swing training program. After one (1) session I noticed a difference.
WHAT’S THE SECRET?
Well, I have two (2) positions or you can think ‘exercises.’
I assume a take away position and pull fifty times (50x) to the top of the back swing. I can tell via muscle memory how the swing would resulted from the swing plane.
Down swing, impact and follow thru same thing. Reverse stance and fifty reps from the other side pulling the handles on the large modified rubber bands. Again, I can roll the right-over-left wrist at ‘impact’ and I can tell or sense when it is right or correct. Obviously the goal is to get each rep right and strive for that ever-elusive ‘consistency’.
It does seem to be helping and I VAGUELY recall using it a couple years back for Colonial volunteer outing prep. We shall see in a few weeks.
OK. Time for a refill on the coffee and attack, attack, attack.
Finished the hanging Spotfin and dropped off the completed Underwater Sculpture.1 at the Martin Place gallery. The exhibit is by MAST artists in support of the Studio Tour and runs from 31 October to 30 November.
I was so crunched for time I did not get a picture but will this week and edit the post removing this paragraph.
SO WHAT’S AHEAD FOR THE WORKING WEEK?
This week the crunch will be shorebirds, finish the household items plus advanced cleaning.
POR FAVOR TERM ‘ADVANCED CLEANING.’
I have just enough time for that.
‘Advanced cleaning’ refers to the domestic chore ratcheted down to a higher level. NOT scrubbing the floors but general duty policing and tidying up. NOT major but strategic cleaning in advance to the big final push.
The new read is absolutely fascinating. The genre on the back cover is ‘Human ecology’ and overnight I am thinking I MAY have to go out and buy this book.
For example early this morning I learned about Duffy negativity, G6PDD and how tea was first introduced for medical and homeopathic intentions by the Chinese as an anti-malarial.
This book unfortunately is NOT a ‘Recommend’ for everyone.
Duffy negativity is manifested in a gene controlling an red blood cell antibody that is a direct result of a mutation that occurred thousands of years ago and as a result enables carriers to resist certain strains (types) of malaria. There area 29 such strains and new ones are continuing to evolve.
If you understand THAT, you MIGHT enjoy this remarkable book. I reached p50 FYI with 400 remaining.
Of all of my ‘friends’, Emma MIGHT enjoy it and be likely to finish maybe not so much now in the American Outback but were she still in Oz, I would bet she would complete and possibly enjoy.
First Born might could read and comprehend some to most of the material but as far as finishing at this stage of her life, short answer is ‘no’. NG.2.GS would be swallowing something or into mischief and divert her motherly attention to parental duties.
The Mosquito by T Winegard.
THAT should chase you away for now.
