Friday XXIX Ø
Yesterday was windy all day with severe gusting throughout. The wind caught the leaves and whipped the branches wildly like little sails and when I went for the mail I was amazed and impressed with God’s work and more branches weren’t snapping off.
I felt like I was under the weather OR about to get under the weather thinking back to the visit from Poor Richard and his coughing and hacking spell. I was counting back fingers wrt incubation period(s) for various maladies.
Then the thought hit me and it was much, much deeper.
It was at about this hour, this day that the funeral for the Father of a very good friend of our Family growing up was going on. I hypothesize that deep in my brain or mind a part of my spirit was there across the country and causing the slightest, barely perceptible change in my atitude, behavior, demeanor and thoughts. Were I not so tuned in to the subliminal workings of the mind, have the time and wherewithal to ponder such things, I might become ill. OR miss the meaning entirely.
Rest in Peace Ed.
Another minute of silence & prayer for his safe passage.
Moving along, for those of you that are only comfortable with something to worry about, try this on for size. The
LATEST THREAT from THAT side of the planet. Attention CNN …
So it’s late and the day was a sprinting marathon.
I had a lengthy list and by the end of the day had touched all the bases and crossed everything PLUS offen the list.
I went to the Franconia brewery for a sixer of a nicer, special beer and ended up buying an assorted case, getting a ‘free’ sample for breakfast and chatting with some of the staff. A roaring start to the day. John said some large oak branches from big trees in his area had been blown over. The other fellow mentioned bradford pears had toppled but these are shit trees anyway.
I then went up TX5 to Oak Hollow to hit some balls. I got a range pass for a month that included UNLIMITED range balls leading up to the 22 N volunteer outing over at Colonial.
HOW THAT GO?
I was just getting to that. Thanks for the interruption your Rudeness.
I KNEW the first time out was going to be ugly and it was.
Windy but it is just another element to contend with. After three (3) stingers, I realized I didn’t have a contact (lens) in and couldn't see to track the flights but seeing this day was not that important. I took only three (3) clubs and told myself I could hit the entire small bucket with one club. Mechanics and feel were what I was focusing on this time out.
Before you ask, the PW, 9 & 8 and only hit all wedges.
Another trick to start was hitting them from a broken tee. After a bit some of the rust flaked off and the sensation on smooth, strong and solid strikes returned like an old friend and life was good. But by then there were few balls left but the confidence lift was good for the first time. The plan WAS for sessions 3- 4 times/week but I am thinking bump that up. I need to set the sights higher and achieve the goals of birdies and lowering my ringer score at CCC. For that I will also need to pull out the cards with scores and see where I need to improve. I have neglected the mental too much in the past.
I spent some of the time later in the day lining up projets artistique. Mostly tropical fish and shorebird inventory to take to Studio C in Corpus Christi in late F.
I also looked for crosses as I was cleaning up the garage. I only found a couple and rang up my Brother for a heads up to get ready. I will cut out billets of some of the exotic scrap wood(s) I got from Randy and ship them. He will cut them out and return hopefully in time for the Christmas rush and most specifically the Holiday bazaar at Tupp’s 4 D. We’re going to bump up the price for the better wood to $20-25. I can’t wait to see the mahogany or American walnut crosses finished up. A small pearl cross placed in the center will really set off the darker wood.
Early Saturday I have a contract to drive a van to south Tx. This is a repeat gig, easy and pays well. Rumor is the Fall show went well so thinking maybe a bonus this time.
I guess that gets you up to the minute.
Don’t expect a report or anything until November (N).
The year is winding down and with All Saints day and All Hallows Eve the ‘holiday’ season gets underway and WE all know what a mess that means.
Bill out, CHILL out.
