12 July

The original Plan for today was an ‘off day’ with no report OR perhaps refer to inaction as simply a ‘mental health’ day but JOY is exuding and I ax myself honestly, SHARE some of that joy with readership.

Start with news from the sports world, SPECIFICALLY the AMERICAN pass time and more specifically still the American League, EASTERN division, the Red Sox knocking off and splitting most recent series with NY ‘bombers’ or as they looked last night on the radio, the NY little leaguers.

The good guys win a thrilling game embarrassing the bums from the Bronx.

Yes, this one is going out to Pat, who I only very recently learned was a yankee fan, Van, long lost/MIA yankee fan, Doyal a terminal yankee fan, Perry the sacker/checker at local K-roget and I am sure I am forgetting a few. They ALL need to see the full story from the associated link, source: Boston media.

Today I was in K-roget without wearing my Red Sox cap and Perry must have seen me BEFORE I saw him because he literally VANISHED. I mean I walked the store aisles and he scurried off and was hiding somewhere nowhere to be found avoiding harassment & heckling.

He KNEW he was going to get the business.

Last night the yankee second baseman DROPPED two easy fly balls that opened the gates for the Sox and led to victory.

Joe C the main Sox play-by-play ‘voice’ was going … bananas (?). GREAT stuff.

I was writing this while listening to KC versus Detroit early game and the Royal’s announcer is an instant fav. A deep gravelling voice with a slow tempo and delivery, I can see him on the radio between innings slipping out for a little nip.

Describing the Tiger’s pitcher, he said Bill Vest and your correspondent being half-attentive heard ‘Bill S’ and he mentioned McKinney, Texas. I go from half-ear to full DEFCON in 500 nanoseconds.

I thought ‘Hey, I’m pitching today for the Tigers …’

I quickly wikipeded him and alas, no real mention of McK but Vest who goes apparently by ‘Will’ is from the Republic of Texas, an alum of SFA (that’s NOT Sachs Fifth Avenue U) pitching for the Sam Houston Lumberjacks.

Just over and KC wins 3-1. I really like this guy and expect to tune in again.

CAN WE MOVE ALONG POR FAVOR?

Certainly. Did you REALLY rip your top off at hearing that new ice cream flavor?

WOULDN’T YOU LIKE TO KNOW? ARE YOU GETTING A VISUAL ??

I made the last trip for the year to gather blueberries early this morning. It was a great time. There were lots of bluets and they were really sweet. There were only three (3) people and we picked neighboring bushes visiting and chit-chatting about a broad and wide spectrum of topics from local history to uses and preservation of blueberries and other items. Very cool & much fun.

Notable people hailing from Bonham include the outlaw & gunfighter John Wesley Hardin, former Reds second baseman and later announcer Joe Morgan that I didn’t care for AT ALL and Sam Rayburn.

SAM RAYBURN … WHERE DO I KNOW THAT NAME?

Former Speaker of the House and before your time but KNOWING your astute acumen of US History, not surprised you are at LEAST familiar. It’s the position currently held by the drunken dingbat from CA. Third in line to run the most comical nation, fka the most powerful nation, on the planet.

Andy said that ‘Mr Sam’ has an impressive library and even the main house is open to the public which is like you and me. I mentioned maybe I would go today but after the morning in the sun and heat, I decided another time and perhaps more than a leisurely ‘half-day trip.’

No training today. I moved in Monday’s to Sunday morning so next scheduled is 24k fast on Wednesday.

This vehicle has now drawn (12) readers on substack and I am humbled. I am now officially planning the break-even point with subscriptions. I posted a comment on one writer’s post and had 10 ‘likes’ in an hour and 25 before ‘lights out’. For the record, three (3) viewed here on wix which is good but 12 is better. There is a ‘w’ in growth.

Still enjoying and relishing the latest read. I mean it seems to me that I COULD have written this book. The style is so similar, he’s Catholic and pops in references to religious details, he’s a noted poet and paints pictures with words in a cerebral way. Most enjoyable.

It went from a ‘can’t miss’ review, to a ‘oh no, WHY that?’ and finally to just a ‘recommend with reservation(s).’

So we're good, good, good …

I got to go for a swim to cool off.

I can assure you and PROMISE, off tomorrow being the 13th. The social calendar has some hiccups so if you’re betting, put a sawbuck on a Friday recap and an ‘up periscope’ for the weekend.
