I am now 100% convinced that NO NORMAL person is going to want to step up and lead anymore. Good people such as myself are going to retire, step back, NOT up, avoid all limelight and gaslighters and see the light from the comfort zone of their choosing. In THIS case the cloud, hill or island with MINIMAL intrusions or interruptions. I will call it 'social distancing.'

Why would any normal person even want to CONSIDER being in or playing the political game to begin with if they didn’t have a voracious ego or insatiable appetite for authority or power?

I returned home yesterday from an overnight junket to southern regions of Texas. A recon and livery job, for hire, to scout and possibly purchase some wholesale items for my client.

We did well.

Stopped for fuel and a bite and discovered a treasure.

This place had an entire shelf of craft ROOT BEER. It was incredible the selection and names. I bought a few bottles. One was Three Stooges Wise Guy Root Beer and yes indeed it was Moe, Curly and Larry on the label.

Bottled by a franchised outfit called rockerfizz. Look it up.

Great find. Like Woodie’s is the Jerky Capital, also just off I45, this joint is going for the root beer OR soda capital of the world.

I bought an old NatGeo map, circa 1983, of the Hawaiian Islands for $2 which was very cool. I think I shall frame it and hang it in the island room.

Also purchased was a huge, clear green glass globe slightly larger than a basketball. I am THINKING it is very fragile.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THAT ?

Yesterdays training ride was rescheduled to today as it rained here after getting home like it had forgotten how. It is getting down now to seven (OR LESS ?) rides before the HHH so skipping a session is NOT an option.

The last GDR of 105K was ‘encouraging’ with respect to times. At the 100K mark I noted elapsed time was 4:12 which is very close and there were a couple of safety SLOWS but not STOPS.

Finished the 105K at 4:37-something so that 4-hour mark I am thinking might just be attainable. As it stands right now a four (4) hour finish is more realistic than a top 20 for I have no idea the number of old koots able or willing to ride that distance NEXT WEEKEND (!) under such potentially extreme conditions.
