XI III 18

Very early on a Saturday morning. Way, WAY too early to be considered normal. I am consumed with the various artistic projects that have a ‘priority’ as the studio tour is NEXT weekend.

PRAY TELL WHAT IS HAPPENING ?

The project driving this temporary insanity is not one of mine but a client, customer and an actual

SALE. Haven’t seen one of those in a while so actually kind of cool.

GO ON…

It is a sign and signage has a very cool aspect.

AND THAT WOULD BE …?

You sound like a therapist. Or are beginning to sound like such a thing.

The design and details must be to customer specification(s) and the client MUST be 100% satisfied.

Yesterday was a cc of 1 N as I was up and out early, to church in fact both days, circled bases and finally ran home after 4:00 pm.

THAT’S A LONG DAY …

Yes it is. Two of them. I think my internal clock is a bit off. I think it gets ‘adjusted’ tomorrow 4 N as the Daylight Savings project begins so no real choice. I mean one COULD theoretically oppose such a program but challenging time, society and the social norms in opposition to such a thing even I would HAVE TO AGREE was marginally OR totally NUTS.

So I met with Melissa and we got her first sign design closer making great progress. So much so that I started cutting wood. I had done a sample letter with the color scheme she gave me and I had the colors reversed but that was minor. I had a red letter on a white background and she told me white letter on red background. Doing the test panel became a benefit and paid off.

Going a step further, I corrected the letter/background colors with a black outline of the letter however I kept the black outline and as soon as the red & white dry on this painted over panel, I’ll take a quick photo BEFORE repainting the letter outline an ‘autumn gold’ and another picture strictly to give the customer another option.

WHY ?

Whoop-whoop … therapist alert ... red flag …

Options are always good. One MUST always issue a disclaimer in such a situation to be truthful and how it is delivered goes far to determine what sort of artist AND a person one is.

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ?

The customer has to be not just ‘satisfied’ but delighted in the piece for people can and do lie. They can lie effectively feigning ‘satisfaction’ however ‘delight’ in MY OPINION cannot be covered up, hidden or masked in any way. This I have discovered myself, on my own and independently so a footnote citing source is not necessary or required.

In the background is Case 39. The electricity is still free and when I saw this movie before checking it out I thought MAYBE I had seen it before so I made inquiry to the librarian. Now this gets interesting as I axed her if she could or WOULD tell me if I had checked this movie out before explaining the situation in a limited extent like she cared at all.

And to my total surprise said that she could NOT tell me and I would have to sign up to get such information which I found even more ridiculous so I simply smiled, thanked her and check out the movie.

I figured I could tell and watch it or not either way. Renee Zellwegger, Brad Coop and Ian McShane the fine British actor star in the suspense drama about a possessed little girl, cops and therapists.

Yes, it has a happy ending because the therapist is crazy, Coop gets killed off and Zells & McShane survive. The graphic/horror scenes are 2-3 times as load so they ‘grab’ one attention.

I will probably watch it thru while, as or until the paint dries before applying the gold letter outline and taking the final picture to send.

Oops. CORRECTION: McShane gets bumped off by the little girl.

HEY, YOUR SPOILING IT IN THE EVENT READERSHIP WANTS TO WATCH THIS MOVIE.

That’s enough. I am not putting up with this any longer.

People think the artist gig is easy ?

To a certain extent yes indeed but others like this not so much. Rewatching a dreadful movie waiting for paint to dry … does that sound glamorous to you ?

It probably does.

Where IS the autumn gold and what brush should I use to make the painting as quick and easy without going back for more touch-ups.

We will take about the concept and techniques of touch-ups in the next class titled ‘Touching up:

Necessary evils, pro & cons, love/hate.

Class dismissed.
