Welcome back and cheers to the weekend OR as venture retirees like to refer to it as ‘just another day.’
To follow is the Weekend Forecast and the Week in Review. In fact, I THINK I have just come up with a BRAND NEW name and title so try THIS on for size bitte … the Week’s Summary?
Does everybody get it?
WHEN IS THIS GOING TO END?
Hey, unplug, log off or go away. End of story.
YOU’RE HERE because you WANT to be and (should) be paying dues and carrying a card as in Get Out of Jail.
Last night I took a hot bath and awoke first at 3:17 and for good at 4:07.
This morning outside it is still very dark, and zero (0°). Inside doesn’t matter because I am living large (XL) and have the heat on. When I went down to the galley to make coffee I noticed the freeze guard cycling so yes, it is cold outside and no reason to be that way inside.
Besides, Rocky the last heat/hvac repair PERSON said that the furnace should be run at least once a week to keep it ‘running optimally.’
So let’s just say that the Homeless simulator aka experiment for 2020 is over.
Moving along, I took an adventure to the tree farm to get the rest of the dead Japanese maples for bases.
I also saw Dean and gave him and Rodney an article I picked up while traveling to the Funeral about hybrid nut trees. I needed to check on Bloomdango and the art festival there this year which is 25 A. I had made a frame for Rodney’s Horned Toad license plate I gave him. Something artsy-farty to hang on the wall near his desk.
Anyway, it turns out Rodney has built a hog trap there on the property and guess what?
WHAT?
He has caught wild swine in the trap, processed them and stored them in Family freezers !!!
A hunter and entrepreneur his enthusiasm has rekindled mine for the project and Wild Swine is going forward. The trip was serendipitous and the synergy was off the chart.
I sent Rodney the BP and he gave me some great advice, feedback and inputs about harvesting the meat, processing and we even talked about funding efforts so full speed ahead and standby on this adventure.
In fact, after I emailed him the article and the bp, he called and told me that they were resetting the trap this weekend and if they got hogs he is going to call me. I will go see the feral hogs up close and aid and assist in the dispatch and processing of the varmints. Very likely come home with some prime meat.
AREN’T YOU WORRIED ABOUT SWINE FLU OR SOME SUCH EXOTIC DISEASE?
Ah, no.
I mean I COULD die like YOU watching tv, playing video games or tracking Richard Branson and Tyler Swift on social media platforms.
I finished Orthodoxy by Chesterton. Great book but recommended only with a disclaimer and some reservation(s). Like do we still want to be friends? It simply might not be for you OR every one.
Trying to figure out which one of his works I want to read in the near-future and taking a break sorting out what to read next.
In the meantime, I have been enjoying audiobooks or what used to be ‘books on tape’ while working.
A series of works by Robin Cook that are technical or medical thrillers. The last and latest was Charlatans and it was excellent.
Talk about a chilling and twisted forecast of the direction of society and the impact of social media.
Very scary and an 'I told you so moment.'
Peeps, you have NO clue or NO idea how bad things can get, ARE getting and WILL continue to get.
You are hearing it here first.
So on the last trip downstairs for a refill, I have projects set up in painting areas. I mean everything is set up and ready for the ‘good’ light. Nothing artificial when painting.
I hesitate but will try again and say that Watching the Shore.2 I HOPE to finish today. Great progress yesterday afternoon late getting the foreboding clouds and the sky colors acceptable.
Next, today, is the water.
Once again, the smaller (and smallest) of brushes covering textured areas with a series of white washes and then the tiniest dabs of pure or straight white for highlights.
I can’t hardly wait.
Another project ready to leap from paper to canvas is Purple glad (Gladiola).
After two test pieces on different size paper, I can clearly see the interactions of the shades of purple to where I am confident that I can repeat the process on a small 8x10 canvas. I am thinking I will give it to my Mom.
She had a series of floral paintings my Dad did for her that were lost in the mail. That’s right the US mail LOST a package with these painting and she is still heartbroken when she thinks about it and or the topic comes around. .
Sentimental value ... PRICELESS. They weer moving back from Va and decided to ship them as it was 'safer' than trusting to the movers.
THAT didn't work out and I guess proves Parents even make mistakes. But they recover sometimes slowly. Life goes on and The Digressor has raised their ugly head once again.
Anyway, she likes flowers. At this moment in time I MAY make a small 4x6 color print or perhaps note cards when I get it done.
No sooner.
