23 Au 21: Monday
Early morning on a Monday and I can report a delightful day yesterday and a good weekend overall. Bright sunshine, warm and the (yester)day was spent very leisurely with no agenda or itinerary and peeps it was grande.
I started the next new read and it is spectacular.
I may have mentioned Sidney Powell and Licensed to Lie previously and yesterday without ANY distractions I found it very difficult to put down.
But first, on a rewind to Saturday, I received a text message from fellow McK artisan Randy. You recall Randy the cabinet and furniture maker that has in the past supplied me with tools, loaned supplies and his scraps and remnants of exquisite and exotic woods.
It seems the fire marshal revisited his shop and Randy was in the ‘cleaning’ mode. I did not want to leave the friendly confinement and solitude of Tranquility base but the picture attached to the message and the promise or POTENTIAL of treasures took it over the edge and made egress a no brainer.
The shop was much cleaner than the last visit and Randy had made noticeable progress. We caught up on pleasantries and I loaded Silver with a number of treasures I need to find places for in my own shop or else the fire marshal MAY BE trotting up this way.
But getting back to the delights of Sunday.
When I needed a break from the reading, I concocted a new cocktail and retired to the blue lagoon aka cement pond to sip, get wet, count the clouds and track their activity.
I found this cider that sounded interesting at El Rancho the Mexican market here in town which is a blend, slightly NATURALLY lightly carbonated, of pineapple and coconut and NOT loaded with 'sugar'.
It MAY BE a stretch here on my part but it sounded like ‘pina colada’.
Well, it was only better.
A generous garnish of fresh plucked, estate-grown mint, fresh squeezed lime juice and the ‘liked songs’ playlist, shuffled not stirred, and the blazing afternoon passed without incident or harm.
How could I forget to mention this late into the narrative that in the morning, the ENTIRE morning Sunday, I was saddled up and pedaling my arse around the course for the LAST 105k GDR for 2021 and the HH100.
HOW DID THAT GO? I MEAN IT IS GETTING CLOSE NICHT WEHR?
It is indeed and I am starting to get enthused, excited, psyched and even pumped up about it.
The times were ok. No records or personal bests but safety certainly prolonged the ride. Fatigue and hydration took a toll late naturally and post ride the weight was 167 which is so close to where I want to be as to say approaching ‘ideal’ body weight.
Reaching 165 would be a great cause to celebrate and in Wichita Falls of all places it could be accomplished.
Here’s a BEAUTY from the faux news or main stream.
It seems a wild kangaroo has been spotted in rural Pa. Residents claim they don’t know where it came from.
HELLO?!?!
How about Australia?
This is EXACTLY what this country needs right now. A new invasive species. I am PREDICTING in a few short years, maybe my lifetime, the kangaroos will be their own cause and special interest group.
Save the ‘roos’’. Rues (or ruse?) lives matter. UNTIL they over-run the place as they have done in Oz.
YOU REMAIN TOTALLY INSENSITVE AND SO FAR OFF THE MARK TO BE INCORRIGIBLE.
Thank you.
One thing I noted of keen interest in the Powell book was she mentioned bloggers in a favorable way. The context was they (bloggers) were the only ones at the time seeing and reporting the truth and absurdity TOTALLY MISSED, ignored and under-reported in & by the mass media.
On my reading radar list is revisiting works by Marshall McLuhan. I started doing a preliminary look-see but the Powell book came along and was linked to an article in the weekly newsletter. I bought it at first out of curiosity and then more to and in support of ‘the cause’ but now after starting and passing the 100-page mark it is really stellar.
She is providing a much needed ray of Hope for the USA and NOT TALKING post Olympics. I’m talking Ultimate Shitstorm Alpha.
Brave, courageous and smart. She jokes at one point that she had more testosterone than anyone else in the room. Great stuff and she was probably spot on.
This is the 922st entry which should or could be some kind of record. The goal is 1000.
THEN WHAT?
Well, IDK really.
I MAY collect the ‘best of …’ and start compiling memoirs. This should take me to or until the final planting.
CLOSING WITH SOME TRULY GOOD NEWS … the GREAT State Fair of Texas WILL BE HELD this year and opens Friday 24 S and runs to 17 O.
I’ll have to check if it’s Tu or Th that are free for the gray-haired set.
I’ll be there prowling and all over it looking for ‘Bill’s Best of the Fair’. So YOU have those reports to anxiously look forward to.
Just trying to spread the joy and giving YOU a reason to live.
I guess that’s it for now.
Don’t take ANYTHING too seriously and trust only God.
All the others are going to hell anyway.
