Day II: First Full day on the ground

It is very cold only 1 or 2 degress C this morning. But it is clear, sunny & no wind. It is most pleasant and certainly not near as bad as it could be. I am grateful.

A light ‘continental’ breakfast provided by the lodgers was really insufficient & we made checkout with some time to spare with multiple trips up & down stairs loading & stowing luggage in Silver.

Our goal & morning adventure activity is get to the top of Sandia Peak & scatter some ashes of the deceased loved one (Father) of our client.

Local ground transporation was provided in the all-inclusive package & after a short scenic drive we arrived at the foot of Sandia Peak for the short 20 minute tram ride to the top.

The facility & organization were top notch & impressive. A large parking lot & some local inside skinny from clients informed your scribe that numbers of pilgrims transitting to the summit could be HUGE. But this being Christmas eve & on the crisp side, thrill seeker numbers were reduced. This was readily apparent & confirmed when we got a parking spot close to the entry.

We bought tickets & after the shortest of waits were on the tram & on the way up. And up. AND UP.

See SOME of the more spectacular photos with more to follow in the book.

The ashes were scattered & documented with a series of three (3) photos one spooky eerie. My or may not be included as I may FORCE the readership to buy the book making it certainly a best seller.

At one point, we were 1000 feet above the ground & our pilot/guide said that he was going to stop the car & let out any cowboy fans to the amusement of all. There were no takers which was cool & good to know.

The evening activities were Mass & taking in local seasonal festivities & celebrations.

I am running out of time & need to start thinking about breaking camp & moving to the next step, stop & activity point on the intinerary. The customer is looking suspiciously to ‘get a move on’. She thinks THIS is easy & maybe the words just FLOW.

Anyway, until next time, follow this link to local paper with photos, stories in advance & tangentital news from this particular landing or crash site.
