Twelve June 2015

Dear Peeps,

Its Friday & the plate is full. The time is early, you worked all week, well, MOST of YOU have anyway so you are here for a little dose of fun & a brief excape from one dull & boring world to the next.

First, I don’t have much time & the picture will in all likelihood be the ‘two (2) blossom day’ pix we experienced here yesterday. Todays are not opened yet, don't have time to wait so we will have to wait and see.

SO WHAT ELSE IS NEW?

Please don't get ahead of me ...

Biggest news right now is insect bites. A couple have itches that are driving me crazy. The one just under my left man-boob has seen itching subside this day however the one on the upper right arm, north side of the bulging bicep, is raging. I have some anti-itch goo left from a script from Jenkins which I looked up to confirm & it is topical anti-itch med. It is no longer ‘available’ & expired by a few months but as we all know it is probably still good, ok & safe to use. So I am suffering with that a bit.

Tomorrow am bright & early Patty & I are headed to Bonham in Fannin county to pick the next crop of bluets. It was iffy for a bit but the connection was made & the berries FINALLY ripened.

Just down the road from the u-pick-em bluets is Jenkin’s Farm. Not relation to personal physican Jenkins in case you noticed & are wondering.

U-pick-em peaches & they have plums, apricots (sometimes), corn, watermelon & Old Man Jenkin’s is a true curmudgeon & beautiful person. I would much rather give him the extra nickels than the likes of one Thomas Thumb or Albert's Sun & NOT GET that wonderful unripe, plastic taste.

Cup of tea this morning getting cool & draining quickly. Estate mint with lime powder & agave sweetener. Very nice with a few red sumac berries for tartness.

Must mow lawn, water & related yard/garden projects BEFORE it gets beastly hot. Virginia is in town but only for the afternoon & booked the restaurant until early evening so dinner needs to be whipped up. I am thinking some kind of fish for starters, perhaps a sweet potato, salad all subject to change & discretion of Chef Guillermo de Gaulle.

And speaking of mint, been meaning to make some mint syrup so perhaps early afternoon between lagoon dips. The mint is invasive, needs to be thinned & whacked severely. I happened to stumble across a yahoo article ’10 plants NOT to plant’ & what do I see? A picture of MY mint !!

HEY, IT CAME WITH THE HOUSE !! I DID NOT PLANT IT !! I AM JUST DEALING WITH IT ... !!

Like when the mint goes wild ... make mojito's !!!

Must dash.

Now you understand.
