7 + 8 = 15
Had I not promised in the last entry AND were it not such a patterned numerically noteworthy day, there would be NO ENTRY this day. A brief report follows for all the reasons you know, have heard before & come to expect. That said, I will be taking a couple of days off from this vehicle so don't be alarmed. I will be working, developing ideas or counting money. Ideally.
Actually, everything pretty much unfolded according to the Plan previously mentioned.
Achieved escape velocity from the cloud & headed for Fannin county, got blueberries under challenging conditions (very windy. gusts would sometimes move berries just as ready to pluck), Picked from one (1) bush & filled the bucket in less than two (2) hours. (1.5 actually).
Jenkins was open & HAD peaches so I picked a peck of peaches (say THAT fast). Time to pick: 20 minutes. Sign on a white pickup truck had Jenkins BROS Farms. Must have been the older brother there at the time for he was more at ease, relaxed, less ornery than the Jenkins I have been dealing with. Either that or he is medicated.
Stopped at the unknown farm & got to meet the Unknown Farmer himself. Purchased the last cucumber, onions, new red & Yukon gold potatoes & onions for $3.00. I would have given him more for he deserved it for the hard work to raise such marvelous crops. Chatted it up briefly. A likeable sort as most farmers seem to be. Except PERHAPS the younger Jenkins.
Made a quick stop at Bob’s giving him & Jean some blueberries.
Also a quick stop/shop at the local Walmart in Bonham for essentials as I was there, it was on the way & convenient at the moment.
When I got home, I texted Walt. He was home so I took over some bluets & peaches for him & Maggie. We ended up sitting around the kitchen table talking travel, birds, water, water collection and watching it rain quite heavy at times just like three old folks for over an hour. It was grande.
This morning the kitchen smells of peaches. BABY !! Peach jam & canning a few of the MONSTERS is on a short-term plan for yours truly.
And most of the bluets will be enjoyed fresh now going forward with Graeter’s Madagascar Vanilla bean & Bourbon ice cream, added late (IOW NOT cooked) to hot daily porridge or in milk (1%) with honey drizzeled over. FYI, the 'bourbon' is generic & NOT Maker's Mark for the record. But what a concept for an ACTUAL product ... (insert HUGE smiley face.)
This Fans is as good as it gets. During shivering winter moments the mind will return to these most pleasant memories of summer days.
Patty came over last night for a bike ride & dinner. She has returned to form after recent travel to Chicago. Immediately upon her return I was fearing a trip to the ER MIGHT be in order but she bounced back in splendid form.
Nothing fancy for dinner this time just burning down what’s in the ice box to prevent spoilage & food rot. That’s the priority regimen. Prepare & consume what’s going bad first.
Today so far overcast & clouds and I have hit the ground running.
But that is about to change however do NOT skip to the closing, jump to the conclusion or final summary quite yet.
There is plenty of good stuff between now & The End so just keep reading & shut up. Take your time, enjoy the ride … you EARNED it, DESERVE it & PAID for it.. OK, MOST of you. Very well, SOME of you ... (sign) a FEW of you have paid for it. How do you live with yourself ?
Already there is a load of laundry in. Wrote a cool note card to FBNG & Houston III for gifts, visit & the Holiday stay for todays postal pickup.
Lined up are the two (2) continuing artistic projects currently underway, The Cosmic Reef (still tentative) & The View from Dukes. Both have significant momentum going & I am finding just starting on one or both each day usually ends up being a longer session. Progress & accomplishments are becoming more noticeable.
I am readjusting & acclimating to the pace & writing style of John LeCarre. Slow going early on in the long novel but once that momentum gets going, I am sure it will be more difficult to put down. It would be a good beach read but no beach. Oh well …
Had a dream the previous night that on the drive to the country took further shape into first a short story but maybe more. Having self time on the road allows the mind to wander, even soar sometimes. Sentences form, ideas develop & I find the process very cool & extremely satisfying.
Don’t be surprised if ‘A Bag of Chips’ (working title, again TENTATIVE) suddenly appears on bookshelves or NYT Bestsellers list. Soon. OK, later.
Todays photo will be the last of the exploding floral fireworks of the local spider lilies blossoms
Twelve (count 'em) burst forth from the recent rains and once again a NEW record. I figure Fandom has seen enough & can always look back should Patrons want or need a flower fix. Even the little transplant separated from the big mama plant is throwing out blooms. (3 rear, far upper left)
Extremely cool.
Morning beverage is coffee, hot, black & lots of it left. Not that I need it but staying on task & fired up makes the day breeze by quickly. I prolly still won't get everything done.
I guess that’s it. Refill the gift cup from FBNG with the hot black, get some sounds going pleasant & appealing for mood & company and just see what unfolds.
Weather forecast now shows a milestone 38 C (triple digits ... FINALLY) will be reached in the near ten (10) day window so the dog days of summer are here.
WHEN DID YOU GET A DOG ?
Dear Must Love Dogs,
NOT !!
Figure of speech. And PAY ATTENTION !!
NEWSFLASH … Ignorance has reached epidemic proportions. Take shelter at once and don't smoke anything. Except fish.
Sad but true.
Dashing out, onward & upwards,
Bill
