Sixteen Julio
Hey, there’s a major going on. Locals refer to it as THEE Open, we here on this side of the pond know it as the British Open.
Up early due to the time difference but that’s OK. Coffee this morning much appreciated watching a number of favorite (& otherwise) players playing ALL the holes.
A little Commentary from Bill following ‘commentary’ by Paul A-Zinger. Wannabee pals of Paul refer to him just as ’Zinger.’ And that’s OK for Captain Paul won the Ryder Cup in 2008 for the US fo A so he should have a modicum of eternal respect.
Anyway, how quickly I digress.
Zinger is referring to one Eldrick Woods and his continuing poor play. ‘It really is hard to watch …’
NEWSFLASH: Sir Paul, it is NOT hard to watch, it is FUN and on the contrary GREAT to watch. I would watch EVERY shot of EVERY hole when the chump is ‘struggling.’ In fact, I would RECORD it to watch later.
For the record, easily forgotten (or overlooked ?) is the FACT that Woods did NOT play on the ’08 Ryder Cup team. Just a little free tidbit from Bill that you will NOT hear on ESPN.
Speaking of ESPN, one must SERIOUSLY question their selection of Juice Brenner (virally known now as Caitlyn …) as the ‘Most couragous athlete blah, blah. blah.’ Seriously ??
This is what society is becoming. Don’t like something? Just get a ‘do-over’ card. Empowering a WHOLE NEW generation of ‘trannies’ to boldly declare they were ‘born wrong' AND feel compelled to change.
I wonder what Jenner’s parents are thinking? Where & how could they go SO WRONG.
CAN WE MOVE ALONG ?
In a minute …. I'm ROLLING.
Need reasons NOT to go to the beach ?
Besides shark attacks which are on the rise according to news reports ?
Also, reports of ‘fecal material’ in the water washing up ...
Staycation sounding better & better ? NONE of above will EVER be reported at cloud lagoon.
Gourmet menu, constantly changing. Dive bar, swim up bar & wait staff accomodating should one be too thirsty & not want to dive or swim up for all-inclusive frio cerveza, cocktail or just water.
Great ticket if you can afford it.
So today is a needed ‘recovery day’.
PRAY TELL?
Yesterday did a serious HH100 training ride of four (4) hours. Goals were ride four (4) hours & fifty miles.
I found a much better ‘loop’ to ride that was more similar to the ride route or course. Longer straight stretches, a few hills and less vehicular traffic. Plus, a slightly longer optional alternative circuit route to vary up the ‘back & forth’.
I was pretty much on track for the distance goal starting hour IV but the head wind picked up, it warmed up (obviously) with the rising sun & fatigue the became a factor.
Made the four (4) hours but did think about quitting once or twice and in spite of the time
/pace dropped off finished with 49.3 miles (79.3 km).
I drank nearly all of the water in the bottle I carried and had barely enough left in the tank to get home from the course.
Jumping on the scale immediately after getting home, I weighed in at 175. The lowest since last years ride. But quickly gained it right back by & when resting & replenishing lost fluids.
This year I am predicting a sterner physical challenge than last year. Being another year along is one thing and then much will depend on conditions. Especially the wind. It really knocks back the pace & is mentally or psycholoically devastating.
There is some time before the event and more training is in order to prepare.
I have still not decided 100 M or 100 K. Miles beats the body severely & afterall I have done it.
Extreme conditions could make it hazardous & merely surviving a victory of sorts.
Patty was over for dinner yesterday. Menu was BLTacos featuring Bill's own mayo & corn on the cob. We made some plans for near & longer term. Weekend, Labor day & now have tickets for the ‘Un-tapped’ beer festival & concerts in early November.
OK. Nothing else of major consequence to report. But getting back to the Open. Watching Jordan Spieth, Jason Day, Phil is starting and the rest. Go Phil. If Woods misses the cut, oh well. It is FUN to watch. With Dustin Johnson currently in the lead, it is still anyone’s tournament to win. It is nice to have some connection with a number of players from the Colonial and names are too numerous to mention.
And I see 'Sir' Nick Faldo playing. What a joke. He is another one that gives one great joy to witness missing short putts. Faldo is a jerk & bad for the sport. Ignorant, classless and his all-about-me personality is geting more media attention of late certainly not often enough.
This day I will rest, relax & recover mostly inside from the heat. Watch the Open & during commerical breaks attempt some w-o-r-k. If there is any physical activity thsi day, I am thinking a walk/run of the near bike loop after, when or if golf boredom sets (read unlikely) in OR the live coverage ends.
Read some, pay bills/financial plan and venture outside briefly to work only if you call watering plants & working on the downed branch work, take a dip to cool off. Stepping away also inside for artistic projects are distinct possibilities.
No idea, clue or hint whatsoever when the next report will occur.
It is days such as this that it is much fun being Bill. Biggest challenge now is finding a photo or image that sums up this report. You know, the image that could have saved me 1000 words … ?

PS: I found this one ... 'O' is for otter.
When I get the chance to chose what I come back as, an otter will be in the top ten (10). For sure.
Stay tuned for other future reincarnation candidate options.
Or send in a suggestion for what YOU think it would be good to see Bill come back as.
Camel jockey, elephant driver/herder, Jordan Spieth. Jonathan Toews. Pope ?
