July 21 Twenty-fifteen

Todays photo is a progressive in a series of from the major work ‘View from Dukes.’

A reader requested validation & confirmation so here it is followed by the briefest report with commentary.

SO WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE WINNER OF THE OPEN PLAYOFF ?

COMMENTARY: Not much. Not that I do not DISLIKE Z.Johnson. It’s just that there is not much there. Much like D.Johnson. Not much emotion or anything else to get excited about. Dust hits it far. OK. Can’t putt.

When Z wins, I get the feeling he is looking for a quote from the Bible fitting for such an ocassion. I would label him in the ‘new breed’ a Bible thumper.

Short entry today but getting back to The View … (from Duke’s). I cleared it off completely this morning for the photo shoot. The sky is done. The palms are 80-95% & I am making my way towards the nearest foreground so a strategy or plan is in the works. If it was easy, YOU could do it.

The blue near the tree bases is masking tape. Today (?) I am going to TRY to get back to or KEEP working on the ocean, the sea between the horizon & the beach. Very important with regard to perspective of water details near v closer to the horizon. What appears now as a gray band is about 50% of what the water I am expecting to look like. Building up the depth with surface details & a series of washes after some texturing experimenting with varying grits of sand paper.

So as you see, this ‘artist’ gig isn’t easy either. But the 4 x 8 FOOT (feet ?) sheet is turning out as planned thus far & by the time completion rolls around it should be BETTER than anticipated.

Must work on a or the cross today. Like NOW or IMMEDIATELY AFTER posting. The protoytpe is not going to work for me. Client was OK with the prototype or even liked it but I can’t or couldn’t put my mark(s) on it if I am not happy with it. I must recut the cross & then go forward to completion.

Which means a new pattern then cut it out on a power saw preferably a band saw. This will involve a trip to Cal’s. If I could get hold of Randy up the street that would work as well but he has been pulling a Puxataney Phil manuever this summer. He seems to pop out briefly, see his shadow & only to scurry back inside maybe avoiding the heat. Certainly understandable.

Tea this morning. Hot. Estate blend of jamica flower, sumac berries & mint sweetened with stevia. Just smashing.

I already got hung up within the swirling vortex this morning nearly to the point of fatal distraction going thru a very long list of headlines for 'articles of interest’ according to ‘my friends’ at yahoo or maybe goggle.

Juice Brenner, aka Caitlyn, that tower of courage, is now unhappy with her/his voice. Seems the acceptance award speech had a little too much of Adam’s apple.

Another headline, which were all that I could stomach to read, ‘Dead Body identified in Demi Moore’s pool.’ Turns out it was apparently a ‘mystery’ for a couple of days. Sure hope it wasn’t the pool boy.
