Monday 17 of August 2015

The sun is up & continuing to rise. I on the otherhand, seemed stalled.

It was a late night as Patty & I had dinner with the Mitchell’s. Margaret & Dennis cooked some ribs & invited us over for a casual despedida to the weekend.

I had intended recording the last of the PGA championship but we had multiple projects going concurrently, completing & wrapping up ran out of time & forgot to set up recording.

Luckily, Dennis had golf on the telly so we didn’t miss a beat. Not really surprised nor bad vibe with Jason Day’s victory as we were watching off-and-on thru the day at home. Day looked focused & frankly determined to win.

I moved his autographed ball up on the rack to a spot of higher prominence. After Saturdays stumble by Matt Jones, I was hoping most for him to recover to make a race out of it. Now I won't have to decide for now selling the red or black signature. I really don't need the money right now anyway AND it can only go up in value/selling price.

Elsewhere, we were in & out of the lagoon between tasks. It seems to me that the summer has peaked out.

As August goes on, night temperatures slip to the mid-seventies dropping the water temperature slightly but noticibly removing the ‘bath water’ comparison. I for one have no problem with diving in to bath water if it is deep enough however the ever so slight cooler crispness is both invigorating & refreshing.

One project Patty’s assistance was required with was to transplant some ailing houseplants. Not only were the second pair of hands most welcome but a second opinion also from time to time was valuable much appreciated.

I lost a little pineapple plant. Oh well. The trip to the compost with the dried up dead plant freed made available a planter/container so the game of ‘musical pots’ began. I trimmed a number of dead & dried leaves from other plants cultivating an overall healthier plant look. A healthy plant should be a happy plant.

During commercial breaks of the golf, all of the plants got either root stimulator or plant food. One big discovery was plants were drying out faster & more quickly because the warmer inside temperatures & no AC so that will need to be corrected.

Can’t be losing my friends for lack of water.

Saturday morning before the PGA coverage and while Patty was persuing her regular monthly good deeds for the environment, I jumped on the bike for a three (3) hour training ride. Finished 60 km inside the time alotted so the pace was satisfactory for upcoming HH100 now in two (2) weeks.

Today I am thinking 2 or 3 hours again after yesterday of recovery.

Mass was Sunday morning & much more pleasant, cool & comfortable than interrupting late Saturday activities to clean up & venturing out into the oven.

Sacrificing a ‘sleep in’ day is not such a big deal when one can sleep in any time, any day, every day.

Tomorrow the Plan is to drive up US 75 to Sherman and deliver a piece of wood, get some intelligence on a wood finishing technique & have lunch with Pete & perhaps Nanette if she is available. You never know with her. She keeps her dance card full.

Coffee today. A new can, literally, courtesy of Patty.

El Pico, from Café Latino, an extra fine grind roasted in the Latin style according to the can’s label. Not bad but then again not Kona.

One should not get into the habit of Kona every day. An amatuer or ignorant therapist might term this an 'addiction'.

Mixing it up & the variety makes for a much higher level of appreciation. One can clearly tell that this is marketed to a Hispanic customer base as the accompanying English label is secondary to the Spanish. Not a problem.

I guess that’s about it. I seem to have hit the wall of writers block. I DO KNOW one thing I won’t be doing this day. That is opening a beer or mixing a cocktail. Neither of those things is in the cards.

Right now.

This is Bill, closing up shop for today and thanks for calling.

Have a great day.
