Weekend recap & a look ahead. BIG DOINGS … but first, cool, crisp Autumn-like air this morning as the sun rises.
Up early, & now home after short drive up US 75 aka Central Expressway Northbound. I was pitying the Southbounders as a wreck in Plano had things bumper-to-bumper to McK. Even frontage/access roads were clogged.
I spent most of the night on Patty’s couch. The rest of the night on the floor I think.
You see we made an appearance at the 28th annual Oktoberfest in Addison. Sunday was only a half-day AND free admission so naturally that was a draw. And what a time we had. Totally overserved.
The beverage cart cruised with a perfect Makers & Coca-cola on the trip over so things were ‘primed’.
Todays cool image is so close to a 'signage by Bill' U a proud & scared. It looks like something I DID !!
Immediately down Paulaner was served. A short stroll found us in the big tent and promptly at a table as Patty ran into a friend that had room for seating. He informed us that Munich Evergreens would be taking the stage at 4:00 (soon/next) so we settled in with a round of beers, a brat & sauerkraut.
Things were progressing smoothly and we made friends allowing others to site at the long picnic tables set end to end underneath the long white tent. The Father next to me was Paco Chavez !!
We carried on a lively exchange & he axed me if I wanted a smoked turkey leg. ‘Sure’. He gets up & returns with the large, greasy drumstick & more beers AND a glass-logoed stein/mug that were going for eight (8) coupons. THAT Paco Chavez. Turns out he was working a crew at a concession & were probably shuttting down truth be told. His daughter & son-in-law sat across the table from us & we carried on like drunken fools which by now we pretty much were.
The music stopped. Then ended & the crowd emptied the big tent. Apparently we found the car & got to safety. Not my major concern as the designated NON-driver.
Saturday night, we had dinner with the Mitchell’s at Mitas Hill Winery & vineyard. A lovely evening with Margerat & Dennis. Harold stopped at our table twice for a nice chat & going in Sue recognized my name on the reservation list as the carver & told me that she had hung the little cross I had made Harold for his birthday earlier in the day. That made me feel happy. Pleased & impressed.
Patty left a copy of worthless rag 101 aka People mag for me. The one with the Pope on the cover. Not sure which week, doesn’t matter. So I am thumbing thru it to find only the story on Francis’ upcoming visit as the other drivvel is of none to no interest or consequence.
But what jumps out ? Juice Brenner nka as Cait, admits to ‘making mistakes’. Sherlock, did you HEAR that ? I am thinking he maybe should have caught a javelin instead of throwing it.
Moving along …
After Mass Sunday morning I have a voice message. Martha has the leftover & remaining books from the estate sale for me to pick up if I want them. I do that and obtained once again some real treasures.
The rest of the time was in the garage making most impressive progress on the signage & other projects. I am thinking maybe by weeks end IF all goes well I can be finishing & painting them.
A big week looms large just over the horizon. Must continue to make-ready for visitor at the cloud. Brother Bo arrives Friday am. Spoke to him late last Friday & he was finishing cutting out the crosses. Good news there. Better when they ship & are in transit.
I am supposed to accept delivery of a reupholstered couch this week from Steven my upholstery guy. Can't wait to see it. A long, old-style with lots of wood & a popping cool fabric to cover.s/b WAY cool.
Other than that, work, work, work. Tuesday is a Raytheon job fair.
Alles gut as we were saying yesterday.
May it continue today.
