Saint Patrick’s Day

Extremely difficult day breaking here at the cloud. Waiting on the weather which is supposed to be bad which translates to cooler with high probability of more rain showers. But right NOW, before it all starts, I could squeeze in a bike ride, start the reburn of the crepe myrtle ‘brush’ and the high-priority artistic project. And taxes. Almost WISH I could wave a Juanda & have taxes done.

But it is St Paddy’s day to hats off to the Irish this day. I am thinking on the New Calendar the years when 17 March falls near a weekend, we CELEBRATE ALL WEEKEND. Kind of like a binge or bender in honor of the good Irish. So what this means, in laymans terms, if Saint Patrick’s day falls on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday, it is a one-day celebration. When it falls on other days, we (you& me) get three (3) days off. And PAID.

Bike rides have been getting better when the wind isn't blowing like a banshee. Quicker & easier as stamina returns & increases. Very good to feel and the weight drops off.

Speaking of binges, Patty & I went to the hockey game last night. Allen Americans faced off against the top team in the league the Missouri Mavericks. The Americans started well jumping out to a 2-0 lead before MO scored late in the first. Momentum shifted in the second period and at the next intermission the Mavericks had taken a slim lead and were showing signs of being the better team. An empty net goal sealed it when Allen in the last gasp attempt to get back in the game late failed.

WHAT’S THAT GOT TO DO WITH BINGE ?

Dear Louise, from LA. You’re getting ahead of me. Reign in Honey.

Binged on popcorn. Two large buckets. It was a promotional night with $2 beer, $2 hot dogs & (1) refills on popcorn. Well, if one is not drinking for Lent, not eating meat on Wednesdays (a hot dog ?), options are limited.

The kiss-cam found me & Patty but it was an awkward moment as she had just gotten up from the seat to head for concessions & I had just put a hand full of popcorn stuffed in my face so I shot a bird to them & munched on. NO I DIDN’T least the lines light up …

Patty is coming over tonight and she is fixing dinner. One of her specialties. Irish tacos. Sounds about right for the occasion.

Clouding up now & getting dark. Plans are being made by God himself. I am just here reacting.

Today’s image … with the green theme, the monster split leaf philodendron guarding the entry way.

This is one of the original three still in its original container even. Growing profusely. The other two were split up & repotted and all are doing very well. FB got one as a gift & she is obviously treating hers well as it is HUGE. It is indoors and in Houston’s tropical climate she found an optimum spot where it thrives.

The plant just fascinated us (my brothers & sisters) growing up. It threw off new leaves rapidly & often and they were always different with the splits on each side. We waited with great anticipation to see that the splits would be on every new leaf. No two were ‘supposed’ to be alike. Years later when I studied statistics, probability & game theory, of course the patterns will & do repeat but more random than regular.

I recall at one time I was little asking my Mum how they be doing that & she said DNA. This is one of those deep answers parents are famous for. Perhaps just a brush off. (?)

Of course now I know deoxyribonucleaic acid but back then it was ‘do not ask’. She was probably either fixing supper or disciplining another one of my brothers or sisters but not me.

Happy Saint Patrick’s day.

While I WAS am waiting on the image to get thru the email server, this one showed up. What kind of Grandpa could leave this out?
