25 d April 2016
Welcome back Fans to what has become now the WEEKLY report. Totally missed an important HISTORICAL event last week on the 18th of April. Read on for hardly a man is still alive …
Well, now more accurately than ‘alive’ is hardly anyone ‘recalls or remembers’ Paul Revere’s ride.
The poem I am talking about. ‘One if by land, two if by sea and I on the opposite shore will be, ready to ride & spread the alarm …’
Well, even I forgot. Today to be politically correct, the rider would probably be Paula or Pauline, drive a BMW or Mercedes convertible and screech the 'Muslims are coming' as she tore down the Mass Pike.
Anyway, you’re not here for an extended or focused lesson in history. You want to know what’s REALLY happening in the world is a short, tight radii from the cloud. Right ?
YOU ARE BRILLIANT !!
So much I really don’t know a) where to begin, b) what to include or c) the depth of disclosure.
Like yesterday was an off day from work which was a true treat. Patty had to work at Sierra Club booth at the huge, HUGE Earth Day festival at Fair Park in Dallas.
The train ride down was as always ‘interesting’ if for no other reason watching the colorful cast of characters.
Besides working, she wanted to see one of the bands playing which we accomplished later in the afternoon. She purchased a cd by the Oh’s. That’s all I know except they talked way too much between songs.
While she worked, I strolled around sipping a cold one. Allowed this year and in another MAJOR improvement, vendors accepted CASH, good old American currency instead of those idiotic coupons. I think the current administration & the first family were probably behind that accomplishment. It's the kind of things they are proud to be doing.
Anyway, as is my usual m.o. (modus operandi), I made intelligent inquiries to them which man the booths. In some cases and for the record, there were females, women or transgenders I am sure.
One thing I learned is never, EVER, start a conversation in a banos with a drunk. You won’t get an intelligent answer.
I axed where the little fire plug got the large green cup. He didn’t know. So I followed up with ‘What’s it say on the cup ?’ Then he got it looking at the cup. ‘Champion Waste & Recycling.’
There was Ellen Prager, marine scientist & author who later spoke. She has written some books for young adults that she was selling & later I caught some of her talk. A tall, striking blonde, you might have seen her on CNN, NBC news, the Today Show, etc for whenever such places need a talking head for the subject of oceans, reefs & coral, Ellen is THEE subject matter expert of choice. She gave me one of her non-stalker cards from her purse. Not the ones out on the display.
Right next to the Earth2Ocean booth was Force Blue. A very cool startup here. Reaching out to combat divers & Special Ops snipers to do underwater research in the Caribbean. When axed about the ‘Wounded Warrior’ project, the answer was that that project had fallen out of ‘favor’. I read ‘fashion or trendy’ into it after the expose of their leadership raking in HUGE Six (6) figure salaries.
I could obviously go on & on and haven’t mentioned the update I got on the Boy Scouts. There I learned that those numbers were once again GROWING. So I am thinking maybe, better PERHAPS, there IS HOPE.
During the Oh’s show, two matrons approached your adventurers about where we got the tiny beers. We were done for the day with ours and with punches still remaining & being ‘good citizens’ Patty stayed with the swag bags while I led Cynthia & Sherri to the craft & micro brew jardin. They were over from Ft Worth visiting and we gave them the tickets that had a few punches left.
There was an artist there signing posters of a very large oil painting he had done on extinct birds. The line dropped off & I was able to ask the artist a number of targeted questions. Turns out the Museum of Natural History in NYC has a large collection of such stuffed creatures for study.
In the Stanley Cup playoffs, the first round has ended.
I was able to get highlights during the afternoon and the highlights later learning the Stars did win to advance.
After getting home, I watched the Panthers v Islanders.
This was sad. From what I saw FLA should have won.
The officials were slack. Missed a call late enabling NY to tie & win in OT before the home fans. So wrong but so NY.
This was confirmed later, THIS MORNING, as I glanced at the yahoo.sports account. Round two starts after a few days off for rest.
What else? Oh, how could I forget. I am still NOT over it…
We lost Prince. In the elevator no less. Unresponsive. The first dude even checked in on the nightly news saying ‘Prince did it all … funk, rock, blues …’ Trump THAT !
While out for dinner with Virginia Friday night, she returned from the powder room with her own news of a half-necked women, UNRESPONSIVE, in the ladies room. Well, I got up to offer my services immediately. I AM a doctor.
Turned out to be ‘wishful thinking’ on my part as she was just drunk. REALLY drunk according to the eyewitness report so I passed on what at first might sound like a golden opportunity. On the surface.
I have to work later today so I am watching the clock carefully.
I need to get a bike ride in as I have been skirting that activity with the very irregular work schedule coupled with poor weather.
I went out to Wylie on Wednesday and the devastation there is confirmed. Property at 811 not too bad compared to others. Roofers & signs ALL OVER the place.
There are the final preps & work for the Wood Show 7 May. Did I mention the two (2) peppermint anglefish were completed and STUNNING ?
Odds & ends. After work I must head to Leon’s as he has finished some frames I am needing for the show. Currently planning table real estate next for what to take, finish up & what stays home so it MAY BE another Weekly report next available.
I need to decide which morning beverage this day. I see advantages for each. The mint is going NUTS-ZO but coffee is luxurious on such a day in the cool part of the morning.
I think you are as close to being caught up as the law might allow in such a case.
Bill out/chill out.
