5 May, aka cinco de Mayo

HIGHLY INCENSED this day. An unplanned & unscheduled entry but YOU BENEFIT. Membership has its privileges. OK, so to start, I do NOT have much time today. While projects for the Big Show this COMING Saturday are falling in line, not all are tracking.

I needed to stop by my local credit union (aka ‘bank’) to deposit a royalty check from book sales of a,b,c’s for bunnies, monkees & donut destroyers.

I got an initial sense something was out of sorts with cars in the parking lot. Like only one, a white pickup truck slightly worn along the edges.

Proceeding up to the front door, this ‘sense’ I have is growing stronger. Sure enough. The doors are locked. It is 9:16 am, hours for Thursday are posted clearly. They should be opened. They are not.

THEY ARE CLOSED FOR Cinco de Mayo.

I go thru the ENTIRE list of languages I know translations for S.O.B. and I will spare readership further.

I have one more stop across the street for a replacement toner cartridge and a couple of documents to print as the one in Printer I (one ... Roman numeral here Phans) ran out.

Anyway, there was a new girl there working the counter and she was not terribly busy so we started to chat it up.

I expressed my frustration at the CU across the street & she listened attentively then added that cinco de Mayo is NOT an observed Holiday in Mexico. It is an American FABRICATION of a holiday. But BANKS closed ? Kind of like Valentine's Day, St Patrick's day if you know your history. It is an EXCUSE to get drunk OR sell greeting cards, costumes or related paraphernalia.

WHAT’S next I am thinking? Closing for the entire MONTH at ramadan ?

They moved out to the country & the new school does not offer any sort of Art class(es). Her daughter is ASKING & upset that such a thing is NOT AVAILABLE.
