COLONIAL DAY II: Friday

Last night the storms moved in. Thunder shook the building and I thought immediately delayed start tomorrow morning. I was right.

Even with an 11:56 SCHEDULED start time, I could have slept in. First email notification was 1.5 hours. Then a second pushing back to three (3) hours. I got a call from Jimmy and he & Dave were at Volunteer HQ and a FOUR (4) hour delay was announced. When I logged on to the tournament site, it announced now a FIVE (5) hour delay.

Dave & Jimmy I am sure wanted to hook up for frivolity & potential trouble but I am staying put. I am holed up, like camping.

I brought all the parts to make morning porridge (oatmeal), snacks, book, telly, microwave, refridge …

I have a number of things to do as back-up plans originally for Saturday my off day, so I am signing off to address some of those. This time shift is not something that is a deal breaker or show stopper.

The Show WILL go on but a new director AND new DIRECTION.

Volunteer Bill moves to the back seat while William assumes pilot duties.

10:51 am. out STANDBY for suitable image ...

So far, an unnamed Volunteer, prepared for the worst.

From last year, MAY be as close as we get and the best for this year ...

Standard issue this year may be fins, mask & snorkel.

We finally got off at 5:33 pm. Me, Janet our scorer for the round also in blue shirt & khaki pants, Canadian Adam Hadwin, Brendon DeJonge from South Africa and Colt Knost from SMU in America.

The group hustled around and finished thru the fourth hole, the 13th of the day before the horn blew and ended play for the day. Knost was upset & Janet said De Jonge kicked the card but I only saw Knost act like a child whining, pissing & moaning.

So the day ended in the dark and we would return EARLY the next morning to finish the second round before the third round could start.

So all the remaining volunteers quickly made way to the shuttle buses and very long lines to board.

Hurry back to bed only to rise early and resume when daylight & the sun returns.
