National CB radio day

Breaker, breaker 1-9 any takers ? Anybody got their ears on for the sizzlin’ zipper ? The air waves LIT UP. ‘Come back sizzlin’ zipper’ ‘Where you at ?’ Where you headed ?’

Normally all good questions but by then he was gone. That was the life span of yt aka the sizzlin zipper.

The year was probably ‘76-77 well before marriages, children. Vagabond, rogue or bum all seemed to fill the 'occupation' blank. I was no longer a student, finished formal education at the University and was living & enjoying life.

Well, as much as possible at the time in Sidney, NY. One morning it snowed and I got into Silver and headed south. Back to SC as I still had buds there since graduation was only three (3) years previous and a year to work & generate funds to get out. I still knew people.

One friend had this new toy, a cb radio, and after a few beers, we took a ride to listen to the chatter. It was mildly amusing then, just idle chatter and occasionally a trucker made a report headed down the interstate.

I decided to liven things up and took the microphone, made up a ‘handle’ and that was it.

They're still waiting for the sizzlin’ zipper to come back.

NEWSFLASH: He ain't coming back.

Also today, National IEEE day. I just finished early morning reads of their pubs. A couple of excellent articles on education and on-line resources. MOOCs abound & I must start taking or looking at some of these opportunities.

Off ALL DAY today and just waiting for daylight. I really, really want to get the hanging jardins to a planting point. I made headway yesterday and had a process all ready to roll when I was forced to get ready for work. Not today.

I must do some planning and project work for the Tupp’s show this weekend. The Make-a-Wish 100 bike ride is out and I will only be able to man the table/booth for a few hours due to a denied day off request of the work schedule.

Uncertain if S1 or Va will provide coverage until I arrive.

Also today I am toying with the idea of dropping by the McK library to see how the display case looks.

Looking at a 2 hour bike ride later. Weight up to 172 and last week after a longer ride I was down to 168 and almost to the goal of 165.

I read only the top headlines of the yahoo news before starting here. Just disgusting and that is not even taking the ‘sponsored’ ads into consideration. The politics is filthy.

Finally, I have begun again slowly working on The View form Dukes after months of dormancy. Need to revisit big time today and push to complete by 1 November & hang upstairs in the billiard room.
