Seven May 2017

A perfect Sunday morning. This HAS TO BE the kind of day the Lord rested I am thinking. Sun rising, birds singing, no breeze and when I took my first walk outside the cell block the comfort/discomfort needle did not move. Same inside and outside which I think is 21 or 22 C.

Today's image is the recently completed French angelfish in transition more properly known as Pomacanthus paru. And it is sold to a marine biologist for his collection in the PACNW. Hand carried by private courier.

This is the fourth (4) Pomacanthus I have done but smaller in size.

The faded second band and the yellow-orange disappearing on the other white areas going away as the fish matures. Very cool.

Much to do this day before reporting to the orange box. It is a late start so plenty of time however still a plate full.

I noticed some red lettuce popping up that needs attention. I want to transplant the reds to their own private container. Some of the other green lettuces are thriving so a salad is in order for a meal or side later today as well.

Got a nice report from Emma DU. Interesting that life on the other side of the world is very similar to this side and constant battles with weather, taxes, idiots, agencies and bureaucracies.

Some larger news here on a medical front, I was attacked by aliens. OK, let’s call them chiggers. I went over to Cal’s to use a power saw and walking thru the high grass they jumped on board. I KNEW it was going to happen and starting making early preps and watching for ‘symptoms’. Sure enough, within hours the first burning itch around the ankle and they seemed to migrate up the legs.

I countered the first one immediately with the plastic card trick, some cold spray balm and that worked on the first one.

The others started acting up later and when I returned home and before bed I took a hot shower, used the plastic card again on ALL the suspect areas, applied rubbing alcohol and finally some vitamin E gel and this morning, all seems to be well. NO SIGNS of infection OR itching AT ALL.

Knock on wood.

I made Mass at Saint Elizabeth’s in Plano just before stopping at S1’s to watch Stanley Cup playoff game won by the Caps 4-2 in a thriller to avoid elimination by the Penguins. Caps scored two quick ones in 0:27 mid-way thru the third and held on for the win.

Garden work, transplanting, the mold for the concrete planter is at a good delaying point and I am very happy with that project.

My priority this day is a resume & cover letter for a job posting of keen interest. I spoke to a recruiter on Friday & promised him something. There are four (4) open positions on a training development team forming and the job description matches many to most of my experience & skills. I NEED to get this task out of the way.

Finally, I did NOT totally miss the opportunities for entries on Cinco de Mayo nor the Kentucky Derby or as we call it just the Derby.

Sinko duh Mayo was a Friday so that conflict was settled by procedure & protocol. It is a holiday in Mexico, I had to work and most of the folks here were more or most interested in just making it thru the working week versus celebrating another nation’s holiday anyway or so I am thinking.

The Derby is another long story perhaps or no, NO QUESTION, for another time. I did get an invitation to go from the Countess from Florence but had to turn her down at the last minute when I heard Tom Brady was going to be in the next suite. She said she had to recall the private charter but I said thanks, no thanks.

At any rate my schedule is to attend next at the 145th running in a couple more years. I am thinking things will be different then and perhaps improved.

And please, PLEASE don’t worry about the Countess. She was slightly disturbed anyway but just fine when she was medicated and surrounded by her closest ‘peeps’ for her needed constant support. And there are plenty more from that mold staggering, strolling or strutting around.

I’ll be fine.
