XXXI Julio MMXVII. The Last

To follow is a hot link. Some will say perv, however I PREFER to label myself a ‘selective news’ reporter with a soft spot for peladores. Or how about I BRAKE for strippers ? Or, perhaps better still, I RESCUE strippers in addition to birds & geckos or lizards as some rescue dogs & horses.

SAME THING

Hold on and it is NOT the same thing. I now know TWO (2) people that rescue HORSES. That’s right & you heard me. They divert said nags from the glue factory and what, bring them back to health ?

IDK nor do I care. One lady is very nearly broke and buying feed on the budget she ADMITTED is a strain.

But according to her, she HAS TO DO IT.

Well, that’s how I feel about strippers. They NEED help and as with most Dirty Jobs, someone has to step up & Just DO it. I saw that somewhere. Sounds like a Home Depot slogan.

Moving along …

This IS a Prime NUmber Holiday for those of you entered into THAT program. Congratulations on your foresight. EVERY MONTH with 31 days YOU GET that Holiday option to TAKE OFF just as I am doing right NOW !!!

A slow news day but busy otherwise.

As mentioned just up a few lines, a full day off so a brief rundown of ‘What I did on my summer vacation’ this day will rivet you, one & all, in your seats for the next 5-10 minutes.

Walt & I went for a training ride at 8:00. Walt set the time to meet up at the cloud and I got a text he was 'airing up tires' at 7:54. OK. Still on schedule.

At 8:13, no Walt. Approaching Infuriation Station rapido, I fired a text back ‘leaving 8:15. Join me in progress.’ Por favor.

Well, he showed up and I calmed down. Walt was only going to ride for an hour but with the HH100 now 25 days out AND counting, my plan was for a four (4) hour ride and I wanted to be done close to noon for all the right reasons.

We started and it was just delightful. It was only cool because it was NOT sauna hot. Yet.

No breeze and we started at a good, brisk pace. We exchanged ‘news’, Walt & Maggie lost one of their beloved black & tan dachshunds. I get (understand) that people are attached to the creatures (pets) but Maggie is taking it exceptionally hard according to Walt. 'Approaching depression', Walt said, which sobered me up.

Anyway, abbreviating, Walt finished his hour and was gone early & quickly and I just rode on & thought.

Pondering all of my current life-problems, situations and projects in hand.

My goal with the ride this day was four (4) hours and see how far I could travel in that time. Final numbers after a short commercial break.

Thanks for waiting AND coming back OR sticking around.

I ended up with 91 km (about 52 miles) in the allotted time. This is 22.75 k/hr which is superb to me/for me. When I began the regimen, 20 k/hr seemed to be about right but the rate IS picking up.

My average rate for speed is increasing and another 30 minutes I would have hit 100 km. Next year I will train & ride the 100 K again but this year, one farewell ride on the 100 M route.

The training time I am finding obviously is way too steep and let’s face it, my death-wish drive is just NOT what it used to be.

Plus aging up this year it will be good to see where I fit (or FALL OUT) in the new age bracket of riders.

The rest of the day included a dip in the seement pond. The water was cool and so very refreshing. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute stretching, the cool down, the tranquility, solace and even the sunshine. ALL of it.

My weight immediately after the ride was 160.2 and this days recovery program was fluid intake.

A nice thick/hunk slice of watermelon, a vanilla shake and stevia-sweetened herbal sun-brewed ice tea blend were each & all found in the dictionary under ‘M’ somewhere between magnifique & marvy .

I read some Benjamin Franklin for an hour slipping into a nap, waking just in time to finish the next chapter.

Then I did detail work burning feathers on a red knot. I have currently seven (7) carving projects in-process that I want to catch up with so I can paint them all at the same time. And they are all getting close.

However four hours of bike riding and a shift at the grande orange box requires attention to scheduling as it pulls time work away but with only three (3) more weeks until the ride, I can get ready for the November show FULL TIME.

I am still doing some job hunting praying & hoping something goes my way with THAT project soon.

Last evening I discovered a wicked bite on my upper left arm. I THOUGHT or ASSUMED it was a mosquito however today I began Bill's chigger treatment.

It took a definite turn for the worse. I had to take a second benedryl last night & another today. When I scrapped it hard with the AmEx card, blood or serum started to ooze or leaked out of TWO (2) small spots.

Continuing to monitor.

That’s about it. Last night I made a killer spaghetti sauce from scratch and it was very good as all would expect and no surprises again obviously. Leftovers tonight.

Working the opening act tomorrow at THD for a short shift/day of 4 hrs.

For some unbeknownst reason to me, I have what I could call a ‘craving’ to do a sign or SIGNS. After work tomorrow, artistic project(s) should be a ‘speculation’ sign for a local eatery. Look for photos.

Also, looking out on my work schedule, getting ready & organized to make batches of strawberry & pineapple jam and a ‘new’ product … Bill’s FABULOUS Double-Mint mojito conserve.

The smallest jars commercially available right now at start-up with initial product offering starting at $250 each SOON to jump to $300 per jar.

Market conditions going forward will dictate selling price. Look for HIGH demand and prices to match.

I am thinking a little will go a long way however some THIN mint/lime/coconut jam spread on a wheat (flour) tortilla with North Shore Goodies coconut peanut butter for a lunchbox wrap might just be the next gen PBJ ‘sandwich’.

You HEARD it HERE first Phans.
