18 M 18
Bing !! The DAILY DOUBLE !! Eighteen repeats, always a good thing and even single 18 is cause to celebrate if we or Br18 is calling the shots. I was recalling, recollecting & reflecting last night that Saturday nights were Hockey nights and the fun, spills & thrills that went with gearing up and marching like gladiators from the room to the large sheet of the ice rink.
Since the last report, I went to Mass at St Michael’s and I simply MUST make comment on the Homily. Father Eugene is rocketing up the chart with his skill set and even delivery. While not a huge fan at first, he continues to impress. Me thinks he is over-shooting the heads on most of the congregation.
He opened with reference to Saint Patrick and how St Patrick applied to his native Nigeria. British rule & all that. Concluding he would not be a priest were it not for St Patrick. Pretty bold statement.
Thru the readings, the gospel all done by others and Father Eugene is up again. The topic is death and he says there are four (4 or IV) kinds or types of dying. One is the physical death when they bury you. Game over. All the vital signs are zeroed out & you go ‘home’.
Two (2 or II) is emotional death where one just doesn’t care about anyone else or anything else and throws in the towel as far as care goes.
Three (3 or III) is moral death where one no longer can tell OR knows the difference between right & wrong. Easy enough. Common enough in criminals and politicians.
And the fourth type is spiritual death. Where fear takes over and God is totally removed from one's life, spirit, thoughts & reason. Sad but so true. You see them all the time.
I thought this was pretty interesting. Perhaps I had heard it before but I didn’t or don’t recall. It was certainly worth the price of admission and continues to make me wonder exactly how people function without such enlightened perspectives from a religious plateau.
But moving along, received a report from Emma overnight post and she closed with 'Fire & Thunda Down Unda.' She doesn’t really talk like that but THIS report needed something and QUICKLY.
As you might be able to guess, they have had some much needed rain AND there was a massive bush fire uncontained that caused a warning to evacuate. Shifting winds spread such things quickly. But she & Sir Ron are OK.
That’s about it. But speaking of rain, it rained here last night and the clouds, overcast & humidity are lingering. A little cool but the laundry machines don’t seem to be effected.
Coffee is a blend of half-coffee, half-yerba matte. Were there anyone else here I would be hearing complaints that ‘it tasted like tea’ regarding the weakness. One of those instances where solitude has its blessings.
The agenda today is art projects galore, yard & gardening activities, some transplanting & certainly watering the inside plants. A select few can be moved outdoors, must start some seeds, clean some and TAXES. ARG !!
Must make that a goal for THIS WEEK. Get the package to Lisa.
Chow for now.
