HAPPY DOS EQUIS !!

That’s right … 20 A 18 … XX A 2018. Are YOU getting it yet ? On the calendar according to Bill, Dos Equis trumps cinco de mayo being a MONTHLY celebration v waiting an ENTIRE year.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Short one today Fans for there is a lengthy laundry list topped by laundry proper AND I must be off the streets before school lets out and all Hades unloads. It is after all Friday and the hoi polloi aka workingor walking dead will be cutting loose pouring out of barn doors .

No image HOWEVER we (meaning YOU) could see a ‘day’s recap’ later to see how we (read I) did on the hit list of things to do/done this day.

No promises but as usual, tune back in to find out. You’ll want to see what new ideas hatch, misadventures develop and what major crimes and catastrophes have been averted.

Bill out.

10:18 pm

Well tag this day Miss Adventure por favor.

WHAT HAPPENED ?

I had MOMENTUM going my way. Literally hit a long, line drive, deep to right-center field, rounding the bases then tagged out at the plate to end the inning.

I got out of the casa, made cuts, sawed holes on the drill press and made progress on bases at Don’s, dropped off & picked up to check out dvd movies swinging by McK library and called Lars to see where he was at in his errands to swing by there to pick up the scroll saw before heading to ASS (art supply store) in Plano as it was more on the way and logistically made much more sense.

He was home and it worked so I stopped by. Picked up the saw, manual & extra blades, we settled up and I try to start Silver and tick-tick-tick. Dead battery.

I am abbreviating and nearly truncating here for you Fans out of respect.

Lars ran me up to NTB where the battery was still under warranty so it cost me $3.00 (something called ‘pro-rated’ … another conspiracy for another time) for a new one. Back to Lars’s place pop it in and same tick-tick-tick.

[expletives deleted]

So I called Ron’s Automotive, then roadside assistance even though I was in Lars’s driveway, and waited. Lars’ Mom was visiting so they went out, he brought me a cold beer (today’s image) and I waited in a very happy state reading the manual for the tow truck.

Jeremy from Safari Towing showed up and he was a honest, hard-working local, on the quiet side which was fine.

Arrived at Ron’s, did all the prelims and got settled & rather than waiting I decided to walk down to the San Miguel Grill as I had forfeited breakfast and now the opportunity for lunch was rapidly slipping away.

It was a beautiful spring afternoon and the walk short. There were few cars in the lot which was as expected and the place was nearly deserted with only a few late diners. My waiter, an elegant older Hispanic gentleman, took my order and brought the Negro Modelo & some chips & salsa.

I had just started the ceviche when the phone lights up and it is Ron’s.

I tense up immediately anticipating the worst.

The little display in the back of my brain begins to spin like the digital display on a gas pump.

Hang on I tell self…

‘Beale? Your car is ready.’

‘WHAT ?!’ I says.

‘What was wrong and how much do I owe?’ when I regained my wits and set aside the euphoria.

‘One of the battery cables was loose & not tightened down. Billy tightened it up and it started right up.’

So it was the battery. Lars didn’t tighten the terminal to make good contact.

‘I just started lunch.’

‘Oh that’s OK. Take your time. It’s here & ready to go when you are.’

That’s it.

The entire misadventure cost me a whopping $3.00 (US) and I lost only about 2.5 hours.

I didn’t get to Plano to the ASS but I had that scheduled for Saturday anyway PLUS I need to have the scroll saw up & running BEFORE I can make the next progressive steps on that project anyway so once again a happy ending.

AND I am reminded once again how God works in the strangest & most mysterious ways.

I am Blessed, truly grateful and fortunate to survive this day and will ride Silver with much appreciation yet again.

Hi ohhhhh Silver ….
