Dos Julio
OR 32 Ju. So I am wallowing on the steps of the cement pond, heat evasion exercise I, protocol V, amazon songs, ALL, SHUFFLE and a certified coincidenque. Leslie West cues up Riot in Cell block #9 … he barks out … ‘July 2nd, 1953 I (he) was serving time for armed robbery …’ and so it goes.
I think QUICKLY to self … THAT'S TODAY !!
Sitting outside on the back deck waiting & watching for the sol to rise and come around the corner of the fortress.
Birds sing, skeeters are cued up for breakfast on Bill.
The ONLY white meat on the buffet this morning and WHERE are these mosquito eating birds?
From the mailbag or in this case the electronic inbox … So Bill, how many bathing suits do you have ?
Nahnook, from the North. Too may to count.
Which in my case is about six (6). Three (3) from one trip to FL, one from HI, two (2) new nice ones from the grandies & FB/S2, one old pair so out of date & style even I can’t or won’t be caught in them.
That’s 6 right ?
One is here in temp-to-perm storage for Midgey just in case he shows up for a dip.
NEWSFLASH … IF your going to go Down Unda and MUST swim, swim in a pool. Shocks apparently look after and cater to crocs in this version of grab & go sensational headline. This is a new kind of news. (?)
Not necessarily fake news but faux news. AKA ‘spinned’ or spun up to be sensational. Shark was NOT a great white but a tiny bugger, bit the ladies finger with the ‘rows of razor’ sharp teeth and tried to ‘pull her …’.
clickbait & I fell for it ...
I had a meeting with my friend Robin downtown yesterday afternoon. She had some questions regarding 2nd Saturday coming up in two (2) weeks. We agreed quickly and finished the short 30 minute business meeting searching on line for shirts. I am looking for certain shirts, constantly frustrated, and Robin really likes to search for such things on line. She gets out her tablet and surfs like a demon. My eyes glass over or roll. Not certain which.
From here I stopped at my favorite Mexican restaurant for ceviche and to watch some FIFA soccer. I love this place. It is like being on the coast in Mexico.
Usually a large & spirited crowd especially at lunch but I missed that rush today. Belgium was playing Japan and I notice first thing Japanese players have red hair, bleached or lightened. Weird.
More weirdness, the Japs were in blue, Belgiumanders were red in a reversal that confused me at first. I got over this quickly as well.
The place was nearly deserted and a Mom & daughter came in for a late lunch and sat at a table near but behind mine. The Mom was a looker and smoking hot. A red strap revealed a bra of the same color.
PIG !!
HEY YOURSELF !!
I’m NOT DEAD … YET.
Anyway, Belgium won the game 3-2 on one of those rare, really beautiful plays you (or I anyway) seldom see in soccer put happen frequently in ice hockey.
Goalie tosses the ball out to a breaking forward who outruns the Jap defenders taking it coast-to-coast passes the ball across the goal area and the second rushing forward is completely tied up by the LAST Jap defender but a THIRD forward is wide open, Johnny-on-the-spot the ball ends up right to him and he pops it in to a open net just out of the reach of the sprawl-diving Japanese goal keeper.
Stunning play.
And the game was over. The Japs were devastated and the on-field camera people seemingly could not get close enough for to ‘capture’ the agony of defeat.
The time was 87:58 or some such nonsense.
I STILL don’t get the time thing with this stupid game. Kind of like keeping score in bowling. Too complicated.
I was going to turn and ax Mom & daughter who were watching but thought better of it and let them enjoy their together time. The daughter appeared to be of college age and knew a little bit about soccer. Certainly more than your correspondent.
Done.
