June continues. The flag is out and at rest as the sun once again rises. OFF training day so mostly work on art projects and an art committee meeting this afternoon. I am beginning to dread these meetings and this particular activity.
I am seeing myself more & more not fitting in and becoming frustrated with the group consensus and direction. We shall see & time will tell. I won’t say too much more.
So I am warming up mentally with coffee and enjoying the cool stillness of the early morning.
I am looking at painting projects in various stages of done. I look ahead to shows coming up for strategic planning purposes speaking of which.
Must ring up Donnie and take a long board to rip on his band saw. I also have to show & tell him how to paint the eyes for the spotfin butterfly fish I gave him for letting me use his shop. I gave him a small cut-out. We swapped a finished peppermint angelfish that he put on a nice base & gave to his wife. So he has some interest. He copied a pattern from my hummingbird book and made a perched hummer that is good for a first timer.
SO WHAT ARE YOU READING?
Seriously?
Actually I am between books. I just finished How to Fix the Future by Andrew Keen. About to start a biography on Edwin Hubbell of the space telescope fame.
I was doing some idle research late one night and saw that Hubble graduated from New Albany HS in southern Indiana.
Vaguely recalling Walt grew up there, I axed him about it during a visit and sure enough, he produced and loaned me his (this) copy for me to read. Hubbell did in fact grow up & graduate from New Albany some years before Walt but yes, I was right and he confirmed the famed astronomer went to the same high school.
After this one, I look forward to starting the Dante Chamber and following with the Last Bookeneer by Matthew Pearl. By the way they are ALL signed. Slightly out of order or sequence but if YOU are keeping score of such nonsensical things at home, I suggest you get a life.
That’s about enough.
I see it has been a few days since any images were used to decorate this vehicle so let me look real quick for some easy and simple files I can post up without explanation for your enjoyment.
I THINK I am sufficiently mentally ‘warmed up’ to attack this day.
I know, I know.
OMT, I am probably going to take the 4th of July off and remain very close to home. Like GROUND ZERO.
Aloha, cheers & chow.
