I KNOW … five LONG days since contact with our intrepid explorer. First question is ‘why’, second que esta pasando

.

Where to start is the question.

Start with last night OR work chronologically from the last entry ? Ich weiss es nicht.

OK. Very well.

Last night I attended a program at the APL that I was closed out of when I tried to signup.

HOW DID YOU WORK THAT OGO?

Perfectly logical question and I really don’t have that much time so an abbreviated version will have to suffice.

The program was the Library After Dark: Mystery in the Art Gallery so you can kind of see where this might be headed.

After some legwork, I identified the POC and called her up. Emily as it turned out I had met when she first started working there at APL. Like her first few days.

A tall gorgeous redhead masquerading as a librarian, the program was her brainchild. My intent was to gather intel with the plan and to alter, recreate and initiate a mystery-type dinner thing with and thru the McKinney Creative Community dot org.

I definitely see some upside potential. APL has now done this type of program twice and it fills up quickly so that tells yours truly the market is there. Capped at 50, the program was free but after only two (2) days all seats were taken.

Are you following?

Anyway, Emily and Debbie (both from reference) had a series of paintings set up in a gallery setting and each participant got a small booklet with ‘clues’ and instructions to figure out who the art thief was, what flight they were taking out of town and where they were going (aka destination).

It was like an elaborate parlor game with clues in cryptograms, ciphers and puzzles and honestly it was above my mental pay grade and capacity. IOW, I found it ‘wicked difficult’ but some people DEVOURED the clues, setting and the whole enchilada.

When I spoke to Emily on the phone she suggested ‘cocktail’ attire but NOT required. I had not idea so axed and a suit would suffice. Well, I thought fat chance of me getting into one of my suits (sorry) but the first one I pulled down from the clothes locker actually fit.

Finding a decent shirt, a stunning tie I put my Red Sox pin in the lapel and headed into the night quite dashing and slightly but TASTEFULLY dapper.

One lady helped me Praise the Lord or perhaps I should better say she helped the ‘suit.’ She was over-weight unnaturally and I can only suspect and speculate she was ill or had some disorder but I digress. This was NOT a medical exercise.

She helped me immensely on two occasions of which I was grateful. Checking back near the end she fast-forwarded and gave me the answer so as I could put my name in the box for the drawing. I was REALLY GLAD that I didn’t win under the circumstances.

Anyway, it was fun and I got some good information AND ideas.

Today from 2-4 there is a Sherlock Holmes Symposium which is open to a larger crowd & venue. I am thinking that there are Sherlock Holmes groupies like there are ‘trekkies’ and Star Wars obsessors.

Thursday night I was in Richardson for small private party with Son 1 aka Br12. We watched a very boring football game and ate chicken wings and carrot sticks.

Friday morning I attended a reception for a visiting artist from Germany at the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts. There was a good turnout and a couple or a few other local artists were in attendance so I was able to chat, visit and get to know them a little better. One artist did colored pencil drawings and they are AMAZING. It takes her MONTHS and she works sometimes 5-6 hours EVERY DAY. She told me that she does one project at a time.

See ? AMAZING. We talked about classes and lessons at a local studio and the business model for morphing or evolving into private lessons so it was both beneficial and a valuable function.

From there & went up and out to Vintage Market Days. A weekend art, craft and flea market held twice each year to fleece the flock. I was supposed to meet up with Robin but only caught up with her at the very end as she was leaving. I did get a wrist band so I could go back if schedule availability allows.

Well the sun is now up and rising and yesterday I also squeezed in a short bike ride. If I would get two (2) hours in today that would be truly marvy.

Got to run and get ready or a 10:30 meeting downtown to talk about teaching a carving class at a local studio. New ownership and looking for talent.

Much to discuss.
