A new month as we make our way seriously into 2019. We have burned thru month 1 with some success, a small surplus and profit as well as a raised level of optimism.

HEY YOU. WASN’T LAST NIGHT SOME BIG EVENT?

Kind of.

WHAT TO YOU MEAN KINDA? YOUR ADORING PUBLIC IS DEMANDING DETAILS. DON’T MAKE US GO OUT AND BUY PEOPLE MAGAZINE FOR DETAILS.

You’re spot on Fido

First the bad news.

OH NO! KJELL DIDN’T SHOW … (?)

STOP interrupting and for Heaven’s sake STOP getting ahead of me.

Kjell was running late and thanks to her command of both technology and the social graces kept my BP below the medication threshold. She offered to drive which was fine and I was ready for the grab & go.

On the way to the car, my hands full of overcoat, water bottle and such, I dropped my phone. As I picked it up I noticed there was not one but TWO (2) white spider-webs on opposite corners of the display. Not good.

During the short walk from the parking lot to the venue, I did a quick check and I am afraid I must put it down. Thank Heavens it is Thursday and I can begin the exercise of replacement today, Friday, and won’t be the entire weekend phoneless in McK. If it takes all day, sobeit. MUST be done.

Options are cost of repair v periodic upgrade. I had or now HAVE to visit t-mobile anyway so no need to stress. Just a quick stop first to see if it is worth fixing on the way to t-m.

Other than that and aside from that the evening was superb and a smashing success.

GOOD. YOU DESERVE IT.

Thanks Mom. I couldn’t agree more. IOW, you’re right AGAIN.

First, full marks to Kjell. She was leading me to believe she was not good with crowds but she

sparkled. She randomly selected a super table with three (3) other couples which could be a chunky paragraph or the beginnings of a novella for your correspondent.

WHAT WAS KJELL WEARING? AND HOW ABOUT YOU … WHAT WERE YOU WEARING ?

Not now.

Besides, what do you think this is a gossip column or some such nonsense ? This is a narrative AND NEWS.

REVISIT: My sample & prototype TLT was finished and picked up shortly after 3:00 in Allen. My seamstress Sarah did a great job and with the red-plaid shirt, textured light tie (TLT for the LAST time) held by a Dallas Stars logo pin, black jacket, jeans I felt comfortable, seemed to fit in but still stand out if that makes sense.

Kjell was in a gray knit dress that complimented her hair and she was gracious and kind enough to sport a pair of turquoise and coral earrings compliments of either Jewelry by Bill OR Wicked Strong Jewelry.

At LEAST twice a member of the filming crew was in our grill as we were chatting it up with Leo M one of the featured FINE artists. Will that clip make the final cut? I am betting NOT.

One lady when she looked at my card … axed if my work was there and I matter-of-factly educated her the diff between a ‘fine’ artist and art IOW ‘heavyweight’ and a ‘hack’, ‘lightweight or MAYBE a welter-to-middle weight’. It was the light-hearted self-depreciating humor I am famous for. Maybe ‘GROWING famous’ for.

After a short mingling session to view the art works, everyone was called to sit. Remember we were running late so the full viewing time was slightly abbreviated. IOW, we didn’t see all of the art before being called to be seated.

During the formal evenings introductions when everyone was seated waiting for dinner and instructions, two of the ladies sitting at our table were recognized and stood up as important heavyweights in the local community.

One of them I met during the charitable ceramic painting function on Saturday and her husband Rick. They remembered me which was cool. She was so gracious thanking me for the donation and supporting the Empty Bowls program by painting & donating a bowl.

The other lady’s husband was Bruce and he was on my immediate right. He was a bit shy but when he mentioned he was from Canada it was like we were old buds and game on. Shy people I can handle it’s the rude, insincere and obnoxious I have trouble with.

On Kjell’s left was JB a fellow artist, acquaintance and renowned wood-turner. They carried on well. JB’s wife on his left had a striking resemblance to my disowned, disenfranchised and distant and far removed sister who will remain nameless in Oz.

Then Rick, Dana and Bruce’s wife whose name was Meredith or maybe Mercedes. IDK.

The mayor was there and His Honor’s wife Maylee Thomas local socialite, philanthropist and lead singer for the band … get ready for this … the Maylee Thomas Band.

The food was excellent as was the art. The three (3) featured chefs did one each appetizer, entrée and dessert and the patron’s each had scoring sheets to rank 1,2 or 3 of the dishes AND on the reverse 6 or 7 pieces of the art to rank 1,2 or 3rd favorites.

Of course comparing notes and selections on the art and plates AND the wine being served made for entertaining and engaging conversation that was light and lively until even after dessert. There were no awkward moments of silence nor force & idle chit-chat. Very cool and great fun.

Each plate was paired with an outstanding wine and the only fault I could find was the white wine paired with the sole (fish) entrée was chilled. SO NASTY. I mentioned it I think to Kjell but it went no further.

I did mention that with one over-powering dessert would have been better served with coffee than wine and when I mentioned that to my surprise found agreement. The dessert wine served with that course was some kind of blush or rose, again chilled to disgust which I left after one short sip and let the wait staff simply take it away.

That’s pretty much it.

This is First Friday so Mass at 8:00 and by 9:00 the important businesses should be open and tasking

the business at hand already mentioned will get under way.

Once completed MY Plan is relax and get some carving and/or artistic projects moving forward.

I can’t do much of anything without that phone and that won’t begin to happen until AFTER Mass.

NOT a COMPLAINT, just a fact. All these things happen for a reason and God MOVES the pieces.

Smoke THAT Geronimo.
