The exasperation and frustration(s) continue with the search for the formula, process or recipe for the cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and herbs in oil commonly found on olive bars in local stores. Cherry tomatoes are peaking, they are good for you and I love them. So why am I having such difficulty locating this ‘classified’ top secret document?

My fav & THE BEST on staff at APL was Cindy DB but she wasn’t there yet or today. I guess it was Amy on the info desk/hot seat and I CLEARLY had interrupted her doing something. In her defense she did give me and point me towards the section where the cook books and food preservation books were shelved. Since she started working at APL Amy’s butt has gotten awful large as she seems quite comfy just sitting and passing out the information requestors seek and NOT getting out of the chair.

I went thru a number of likely candidate books and found guess what ? Correct.

EXACTLY nada.

Since I was there and it was nearly frigid in the library with an over abundance of conditioned air, I decided again to try the on-line search.

Abbreviated and truncating as I am needing to post up and move along on this being an ‘off day’, I located a ‘contact us’ link for an extension at Penn State. I filled out the obligatory info and quickly got a reply with a valid email address for a professor there in the food safety and quality department.

I promptly emailed Sharon(II) not knowing what to expect in the line of a response.

Overnight she replied with some good intel so now that is on my list to read up and go thru before responding to her with questions.

So that quest continues.

Briefly and FINALLY, went to a RR game last night with Terry and going again with S1 Thursday.

Great fun.

I started working with the horseradish brought back from ny yesterday and I need to finish that tasking today. I dropped my bike off to have the broken spoke replaced and repaired. The bike is ready today but the training program is in ‘Rest’ mode leading up to the ride and I will pick it up on Thursday when I go out next.

Also processing a very large quantity of the sumac berries brought back from ny. Recall this is key ingredient to the estate’s herbal blend for sun tea. I am THINKING this is a life-time supply of this wild-growing edible that has WICKED health benefits that John and Jane Q Public are TOTALLY unaware.

I love the slightly tart taste that resembles cranberries and the vitamin C is off the charts. The Indians made hot tea out of these same berries and I am thinking I have rediscovered a forgotten treasure.

Anyway, processing them by drying in the sun and removing individual fuzzy berries from the large deep red clumps that almost resemble flowers.
