A 3 Early

Up early with domestic affairs that unfortunately periodically must be addressed.

Where this becomes pathologic is when one carries the procrastination gene as dominant and the condition moves from acute to chronic.

So good morning Fans, Friends and Family as well as outliers visiting for the first or second time.

Yesterday I ventured out on a very planned strategic journey.

INTRIGUING. TELL US MORE POR FAVOR.

Well I was going to do just that but once again you have succeeded interrupting however you have failed to derail and get me untracked.

I took the DART light rail train (shameless plug) for 'Mass transit' to downtown Dallas and ended up at the Deep Ellum Art & Music festival.

NICE.

Stop it. One more interrupt and I’ll stop because I need to get this account done & posted and address other tasking this day.

VERY WELL. I’LL TRY.

Fine. See that you do.

I don’t think I will be doing this show in the foreseeable future as well.

The rail ride down was uneventful and fast as I bought a magazine. I finished a couple of articles on memory that were rather thin and not very informative as to what I was seeking. This magazine was over $15 and I feel ripped.

I find it always a separate source of inspiration to ride the train and observe the various and sundry characters cohabiting this part of the planet. Once downtown the human race takes on a whole new bias and I will park and table this discussion for a future report. In summary tho, the review ends with the characters, scene(s) and setting all are very colorful.

Deep Ellum is an old part of town and the city promotes the Bohemian, eclectic and ‘artistic’ nature of the culture. It ‘sells’ and works as the area does draw all sorts of freaks, current, former, disguised and wannabes.

Tattooed circus escapees, pedestrians that could have done a face plant in to a tackle box and I guess the more ‘normal’ gawkers & strolling adults were attired in amusing and entertaining tee-shirts. ALL part of the Show.

I spoke to 3 or 4 artists about either their work or the show in general to gather information and data for future considerations.

First, there was an artist from IOWA (idiots outside wandering around (?). He immigrated from the Czech Republic and ended up in that God-awful place and I didn’t even CONSIDER approaching or inquiring details of that transition.

He was a photographer and became fascinated with … wait for it … fireflies in IOWA as they didn’t have them in CZ.

He took ‘time lapse-type’ with a digital camera and a special lens so there was no great magic or ‘art’ involved. He took the digital file, manipulated the image and ‘printed’ them on very thin sheets of aluminum. The pictures were of course and naturally stunning but when I asked him how the images we affixed to the thick polished stainless steel frame assuming and thinking magnets (independently and strictly as an artist entrepreneur) he said no and that they were glued on.

Rather than even suggest magnets I dummied up, exchanged b-cards and moved along.

The other artists yielded small and minor intel.

One lived here moving from Houston and last year was in WWAF. We had that in common but she was originally from there. After viewing her art, I had only one question begging to be asked (but DID NOT0 and that was how?

I mean I saw exactly how she accomplished at least one (1) large painting in nanoseconds having used a similar OR the same technique so no mystery there.

One crusty old Impressionist was using a 10 x 10 tent however he was able to configure the tent to be twice (20’) deep which I found innovative and clever. He said you could do it at this show but not universally at every show.

I saw Camille but she was busy actively and aggressively ‘selling’ her work with a customer, client or patron.

She is a professional and gets after it out of necessity. I spoke to her briefly while at Bayou City in Houston and while picking her brain for intel would be most beneficial getting there is getting unlikely dropping in priority and probability.

Thinking now about The Wrap, sparing readership additional torture and getting a refill on the coffee the WHY (Y) participating next year as an artist in the Deep Elllum festival is unlikely.

First, the website bills the event as ‘adult-oriented’ with no planned activities for children. They refer to them as ‘kids’ which I IMMEDIATELY associate with goats. Adult-oriented takes MY MIND to COMPLETELY different places.

I went Saturday versus Sunday because at noon Sunday there was a pooch parade. Not wishing to observe THAT or dodge dog turds OR step in a ‘tootsie roll’, it was a no brainer.

BUT FINALLY, show hours were 11-11 PM. This is a LONG day and in THAT part of town, the educated and polite genes in me graciously decline with a ‘No Thank you’.

That’s it.

Laundry must be shuffled, a ride as soon as it gets light enough AND warm enough and then make and breath some sawdust to build inventory for the Spring Fine Art show at Market Street in the Woodlands.

Some light gardening and yard work interspersed with a spa session in the afternoon sun would be absolutely decadent, luxurious and living large.

Send money, make that pledge REAL or make a donation or contribution I don’t care which to help the cause.
