Monday 2 My
Serious time restrictions this first entry for the new month. Shifting gears as the engine whines wildly on a short soft break.
Finishing the last of the coffee and it looks like a late breakfast.
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING? DIDN’T YOU HAVE AN EVENT OR A SHOW OF LATE?
I am impressed that you are keeping score at home so yes to both.
The Spring fine art show at Market Street in the Woodlands was on Saturday. Plenty of help with both grandies pitching in with set up and tear down. Clare was rock solid beyond set up and once we figured out the problem with the Square credit card reader she was processing ALL of the credit card trannies.
I THOUGHT SQUARE WAS IDIOT-PROOF SO YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN OK?
You’re funny.
What we discovered early afternoon was the protective shell covering of the phone actually PREVENTED the pin from fully engaging and making a secure and good connection at the scanner/processor interface. So once the cover came off, everything WORKED splendidly.
YOU ARE KIDDING?
Nope. I wish I were. The connection at the phone was not making full contact.
Otherwise it was a great show. The venue is, was, has always been splendid and superb. The weather was a little warm, the crowd lighter but spirited as ever and there was a PGA golf tournament at the TPC course that weekend.
Rain held off until shortly after we began tearing down, packing and loading.
AND it could have been much worse for it was only a light sprinkle enough to get peoples attention but not damage exposed art.
SO DID YOU MAKE ANY MONEY?
I did have some nice sales. A couple of commissions for signs, on another sign I will be working with a student at the Rhode Island School of Design. Their parents approached me about a custom sign but it sounded more like a 2-D sculpture. They left and came back with more details. The piece will be for their house in Hawaii. I was quick to point out ‘free delivery’ so that is exciting if it happens.
So now today I am re-shuffling the deck with new priorities. The ‘top three’ are the two (2) signs that have been paid for and I promised both within two (2) weeks after final design approval. Then I need to stay focused on WS.7 for the juried show in VA. I have time and a nice deliberate pace is what works best turning out quality work.
Tonight is the artist’s reception in Frisco. Dress up and hob-knob aka ‘socialize.’
I have to dress up like an ‘artist’ and have ‘nothing to wear.’
WE GO THRU THAT ALL THE TIME. HOW DO YOU LIKE IT?
I really doesn’t matter to me Ms Bold Capps. I’ll just wear whatever I have on at the time it is to leave for the event.
I have reached THAT magic age where I do NOT have to worry about ‘success’ when I dress up.
Kind of groovy.
