Saint Patrick’s day 2022
A March Holiday in the middle of Lent so what’s the work around for celebrating you ask?
Great question and Thanks for asking.
Pre-epidemic, when I was attending Mass at a church with a building, the Bishop of the Dallas diocese issued an ‘order’ proclaiming a ‘lifting’ of ALL Lenten observances for one day in honor of Saint Patrick. It may have been a Friday that year to the fasting, fish, almsgiving and such were waived. Apparently he could do that.
This was two (2) years ago now and IMHO the Church had this ‘pandemic’ issue aka FLU SEASON under control for a few weeks not serving wine at communion AND shaking hands. It worked FOR YEARS. I was slightly irritated by this sheepish compliance but didn’t say anything except to my Mom.
DETAIL THAT CONVERSATION POR FAVOR …
Realize it is a personal and private conversation Ms Bold Caps however since paid readership is still shy of double figures, I can safely say OK.
I mentioned to her how crazy and short-sighted this move was and that they (the Church and the bishop) would regret such a fool-hardy move.
Mom’s asked why I might say something so vile.
‘Think Mom. Who is going to pass the hat, fleece the flock with NO FLOCK in the pews?’
She agreed reluctantly I had a point and it wasn’t a few weeks later a broadcast email (advantage of technology) went around ‘reminding’ people the church was ‘still incurring expenses’ during the lock down.
Running the risk of total excommunication, I am stopping now and moving along.
WAIT. SO WHAT DID YOU DO NEXT?
I started my own diocese, installed myself as bishop AND flock and do self-service(s), readings and such related observances.
HOW’S THAT WORKING OUT FOR YOU?
Good to great. I got a subscription to the missalette, do first Friday Mass, Mass AND additional readings. I even do SHORT Homilies. I feel closer to God, pray more and more often AND good things happen.
LIKE WHAT?
Oh, little things seem to fall into place and my way more often. I notice these things and give FULL CREDIT to God and His Master Plan.
Last night I went to bed early and woke up at 12:05 am. So I have a piece of black licorice I was saving for Easter morning. It turned into multiple pieces.
I felt on waking that I have been tied up and my shoulders bound by a rope. When my wits returned I deduced my shoulders had fallen asleep due to sleeping position and lack of circulation so that crisis subsided.
Besides, I was alone so who was doing the bondage anyway?
A full day of PA today. Weather is favorable for outdoor training ride later this morning. Afterwords a spa session will serve nicely.
Stars play tonight in Montreal. They were pathetic earlier this week in Toronto. To myself I starting calling for the coaches head. Talk about a lackluster performance. Skunked 4-0 and IMHO the ‘post-game’ highlight show should have been cancelled. I know I didn't listen to the excuses.
Anyway, the puck drops at 6:00 on the radio of course. I only wish I could get the Montreal feed. The Stars broadcast team is so lame. Their ‘sugar-coating’, hyping and excuses are all running thin with this fan. They are not a playoff team and don't deserve to be there.
Tonight will be interesting as the Canadians are resurgent with Marty St Louis taking over as head coach. MSL's birthday is 18J and I started watching him in Tampa when I was there and became a fan. He is a solid human. HE went from coaching his son's squirt team to behind the Habs bench in the NHL. Now THAT'S a LEAP.
There's a conference call with the neurocenter & status of S1 treatment progress at 1:30. Yesterday I toured a facility in nearby Frisco for the next step, stage or phase of his re-entry.
I have been amusing myself posting comments on substack and reading the same. The original thought(s) and comments are enlightening and entertaining. Alex Berenson is a fav. I subscribed Kanehoa the Great who is like what used to be ‘investigative journalism’ used to be. I also get Sidney Powell’s Defending the Republic for high-level overviews a couple of times a week on important REAL current events like election larceny, immunization b*llsh*t and on going legal actions.
OK. I’ve got to cut this off here now. It is shaping up to be a good day also to work in the gardens of the estate this day. Organizing containers, planning and planting what should go best where.
Thank God it never ends.
Cheers to you Saint Patrick. I am going to have ONE (1) beer later today. After breakfast and PRAYING I can hold it at one.
