DEAD WEEK: SUNDAY
The Dead Week is underway with this Sunday and will continue until the year flips. The new calendar according to Bill nomenclature and minor mods are nearly complete AND mostly ALL APPROVED.
That is one of the advantages of being Emperor, no need for ‘pier reviews’ because one simply has no piers.
I began the night time hours of free electricity game for a movie. I had sadly finished the final episode of season II of the Rebel and was looking to fill a veiwing void so I fired up telly and after a frustrating search of the extensive menu ‘free to me’ on prime selected ‘I’m Your Woman’ probably for the wrong reasons.
Let me state to readership now, early on, THIS was the high-point and the movie quickly PLUMMETED in the ability to hold attention and sustain interest.
Within minutes I had the next production batch-lot of tropical fish in my lap, on the chair and was either burning lines or working with the soft lead pencil marking areas of wood to remove tomorrow which is not today after finishing this and other minor HH chores.
WHAT’S 'HH' IN THIS CONTEXT?
HurRumpf. Here’s a clue … it is NOT Happy Hour. Household as in chores you dimwit.
I kept the movie running and it just kept getting shittier (rhymes with ‘whittier’ as in california) and I finally drew the line, ended the whitish noise IF I can say that still and returned to the Golden tiempo of silence.
The wind was blowing outside and it sounded like one the old-time Popeye cartoons but the quiet and marginally scary/spooky was WAY BETTER than the movie.
Suddenly I got a nice surprise sms/text msg from Kjell. Cryptic and brief, as usual, the exchange ended just as quickly.
I got as far as I could without removing wood and creating a mess in the Recliner I.
I went upstairs to bed with the first of four (4) novels by Fredrik Backman gifted for Christmas.
It wasn’t long, trust me, before sleep was on the corner and I was down and out for the count before a break point. I figured I would reach a suitable break area when I awoke in the night, picked up the book and then reached a good stopping point.
Well, I awoke as predicted and after the list of prayers for world and galactic peace, picked up the book with the long title. One page and I reached the end point. I concluded I couldn't take it anymore.
I starting asking myself questions about characters, trying to follow them, their silly quirks and finally reached the universal question of all therapists … why?
As is why was I ready this? What was I expecting to get out of reading this AND the others? I had done a quick search
of Fredrik Backman and he has written a number of NYT best sellers however at 3:12 am I had convinced myself I could write just as well and CANCELLED the entire reading list.
It was at this time that I realized that ALL these people probably were suckered in by "NYT best-seller', bought the book and most likely all, as in EVERYONE (perhaps) had put it down for something else better to do as well. It would STILL count as a 'sale' for statistical purposes.
So, Bill’s Book review(s) for FBackman (all of them) is NO stars.
Get a hobby, get a life or FIND something to more constructive do. Play putt-putt, darts or pool. Get a small brush and paint a wall THEN watch it dry. Cut your finger and watch it heal.
I am leaning towards Ulysses Grant's memiors or a biography of Harry Truman whichever APL has. If both fail, McKPL would be the next stop and if THAT fails to produce one or the other, they (McKPL) do a good job with an ILL. That's Inter-Library Loan for those of you seriously following along.
It is now time for me to dash off for better activities.
I know it is Dead week but the plants need watering it being Sunday.
I did some cleaning and organizing in the garage yesterday afternoon late after a long session in the spa and sunshine.
YOU GOT INTO THE SPA? HOW LUXURIOUS.
Indeed it was. Conditions were perfect with no wind, clear, sunny skies and after noon the sun angle was right for a short time but quickly slipped behind Roger’s house and was blocked which dropped the air temperature and forced the show into the garage.
I made some progress which meant more space to work and got a nice mental boost amd ambition for today.
And that is pretty much it.
The agenda today is admin getting out a few Christmas cards to stragglers and remaining B-listers. Then look ahead to planned activities for the rest of Dead week. The forecast will drop off today and I see it is windy so a spa session today might be the last for some time.
It’s ok viewed as a bonus and for such things one does not complain. Plenty of time of a bike ride later. After all this about as far away in the training cycle as possible so it is a good time to skip or cut a session.
If this is IT for Dead week and 2020, do not be alarmed.
I still have plenty to do as in artwork, carving and NOT READING FB (FredBackman, NOT facebook).
The strategic plan(s) as in art marketing is calling for INVENTORY and there IS an ‘I’ in inventory. As in if I don’t, it doesn’t get done.
Happy New Year Justin Case.
